There WILL BE less people like Patrick Stewart or Dolly Parton, given widening wealth inequality, loss of jobs in creative sector, austerity, privatisation of education (especially arts) & financial exclusion. Art of the near future will be less diverse & restricted to the privileged few.

Patrick Stewart's passing feels a whole hell of a lot like Dolly's. It's hard to imagine that singular talents found in people born in the working class or working poor will get fostered the ways theirs were. The things that nurtured those talents have been stripped for profit by assholes.

Hey Etsy, I love how you tried to placate artists by implementing new changes and then quietly added bullshit to your ToS, which I highlighted below. After this month, I will be moving my shop. F*ck off.

Next time you feel imposter syndrome creeping in just remember Mark Zuckerberg continues to make billions of dollars off a completely unusable slop pit and oh wait now I've got imposter syndrome AND I'm aggravated jk nevermind disregard.

The gulf in my emotions that exists between A) seeing the care, passion, and artistry present in Laika's Wildwood and B) reading about a former Yahoo exec giving an interview admitting to asking AI what made her own daughter special... is absolutely irreconcilable.

Social media offers the facsimile of community and connection but seals off the individual in physical space if care is not taken to prevent social media from subsuming all other social activity. How can I be in community when I stand here alone at my own table?

Writer @naomiaklein.bsky.social says the rapid rise of artificial intelligence is part of a much longer project of privatization. "After 50 years of outsourcing and hollowing out of public functions of the state, the very last stage is the outsourcing of thinking, of intelligence itself."

The AAA industry continues on its path towards becoming SSS: sports, sequels, and shooters. And some of those games are good, sure. But when they're all that remains in the big-budget space, it's no wonder most of the interesting work these days is being created by indie studios.

BREAKING: Electronic Arts is cutting 400 jobs and shutting down BioWare, the legendary development studio behind Dragon Age and Mass Effect. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

EA's closure of BioWare is transparently a vile move to shutter the studio that made by far their queerest titles. In the wake of this, I implore you: MAKE MORE QUEER ART. Make it trans. Make it horny. Make it scary. Make it loving. Make it with every inch of yourself. Flood the world with it!

Weird seeing things like “Elon ordered the starlink slowdown” being put out there as breaking news. Yeah man, we figured the dude who has turned himself into what is essentially the dumbest fucking Bond villain did it. It’s nice to have the confirmation I guess.

Meta took down the No Kings instagram; TikTok banned the Musk documentary account for supposedly violating its political posting policies. A reminder that platforms are owned by the wealthiest of people, control the means of media distribution, & put their thumbs on the democracy scale as they wish

Post from Ezra Levin:

❗❗❗Mark Zuckerberg's meta just suspended the No Kings Instagram account. I just rushed back from my local No Kings to jump on this.

Bottom line, would be helpful for all pro-No Kings folks to elevate the issue and help us get the word out about No Kings today. The Nerd Reich strikes again.

TikTok has banned the entire Musk film account, citing political content that violates its policies. The move, which comes just as the Alex Gibney’s investigation into Elon Musk expands to more than 470 screens across North America, raises concerns about Big Tech suppression that the very film seeks to expose.
