At its core, the reason the right needs to villainize Fauci and push the lab leak conspiracy is that in reality Covid was the inevitable consequence of climate change-fueled ecocollapse, and it is Republican heresy to acknowledge the existence of such a thing.

This is it, the entire conspiracy: In early 2020, Fauci and a bunch of scientists thought the virus could be engineered. Then they did more research and found that it didn't show any evidence of that. Nothing we've learned since has overturned this finding.
