DSA is a democratic organization. The Democratic Party is not. If you are a member of DSA by being active you can greatly impact the organization on a local and national level. National asks for member input on key questions. Any member can be a nat delegate. Any member can propose local resolutions

Try finding your county party, and approach the *volunteers* already working there with curiosity and not judgment. Should be an entirely different experience. If it’s not find out how you can help them and change things.

🆘UPDATE FROM DELANEY HALL ⏩Please help striking detainees by showing up, donating, and calling your Reps to demand an IMMEDIATE END to ICE's violence, and uplifting the demands being voiced by the labor & hunger strikers inside.

ALL EYES ON ICE AT DELANEY HALL. Support the labor and hunger strike. What's going on? Since Friday, May 22, hundreds of detainees in Newark's Delaney Hall ICE prison are on a coordinated hunger and labor strike. There are reports of poor living conditions, abuse and neglect, and inadequate medical care resulting in avoidable deaths. There is escalating retaliation, intimidation and punitive transfers by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Geo Group guards against detainees, as well as violent retaliation against protesters including US citizens outside the facility. Strikers are calling for: One, An immediate in-person meeting with New Jersey governor Mikie Sherrill at Delaney Hall to observe conditions and hear testimony from detained individuals. Two, The immediate release of vulnerable detainees including elderly individuals, pregnant women, young people, and those with serious medical conditions. Three, meaningful review of immigration cases and habaeus filings. Four, an end to what detainees describe as coercive pressure to sign eportation or voluntary departure documents. Ways you can help.
