DAT BUNN

I post about retrogaming, AEW and trans stuff. 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈🔞 (she/her) https://bunnzosteel.itch.io/

I looked at the Amnesty report, it was noteworthy how much of the rest of the report was about abortion access, how much the gender critical folks are collaterally make things worse for all women in the name of protecting their brand image.

I thought that Ray's motorcycle jump in this strip was like what "AI artists" do and call it making art. But Ray is putting in the work to find his own reference photos, this fictional cartoon cat is more of an artist than every "AI artist".

Achewood strip where Ray has combined an image of mount everest and an image of a motorcycle and is pretending to make the motorcycle jump Everest by dragging the motorcycle image around with the mouse.

"A bunch of people would rather post on Race War Now Dot Swastika rather than Bluesky because you keep making fun of their imaginary computer friend" is a RESOUNDING endorsement for the concept of hostility.

Part of a thread from some bluecheck:
Multiple people I know have told me that they love the idea of Bluesky, and want it to succeed, but have abandoned it for X because the use agentic tools in their work and find them incredibly useful, and feel that any mention of their usage here leads to hate and ridicule.

I wouldn't bring this up if it was just one person, but it was multiple people since the beginning of August who mentioned in passing something to the effect of either "I'd spend more time on Bluesky if people weren't so anti-AI" *or* "As much as I hate to be there all the useful AI talk is on X."

I'm not saying it's anyone's responsibility to praise AI usage. I agree with much of the criticism of the tool. But for many, many people, it is a useful tech (I have talked about the ways I find it extraordinarily useful, only to have people here mock me, insisting my lived experience is a lie).

I am just noting that for all the people here who say that people should get off X and spend more time here, the reason I keep hearing from people in various circles who would *like* to do that, but don't, is the vociferous belief of many here that there are no possible positive uses of AI.

But we also don't forgive them for this. Ignore them as often as you can and when you can't or won't, say what they're doing clearly with your whole chest. A major factor getting into this mess because the majority of libs and journos worked over time to make fascism seem like just another opinion

"I would hate to be in a bubble that's why I stay on the combination White Nationalist - Child Pornography website!" Is not a particularly convincing argument!

When you think of Mega Duck, think of Snake Roy. (as far as I can tell this is a pretty generic game of Snake, for the Mega Duck, starring Snake Roy).

Box art for the Mega Duck game _Snake Roy_ which features a weird painting of a cobra with a fantasy barbarian's head.

AI RANT (cont’d) The most troubling thing about this is, Originality AI is apparently used by agents & publishers alike. Dear agents and publishers, PLEASE DO NOT FORGET: AI “detectors” are slop machines same as the slop machines whose output they purport to analyze. 🧵4/5

This btw, is also why AI companies are trying to colonise education at all levels: its not that they care about students. But devastating education, driving academic labor entirely. out of work, and producing students who cannot function without their product, now that is their goal.

A traditional rule in Washington: reporting denounced as inaccurate, without detail as to how it is inaccurate, may be presumed generally accurate. Reporting further denounced as dishonest, insulting or with other pejoratives, may be presumed entirely accurate.

Was thinking about how there's a subculture for literally any pop culture / tech phenomenon. Bally Astrocade? Letraset screetone or 1/2" open reel tape? People will gush about them for hours. But AI? Literally nobody is gonna fondly say "DALL-E had a certain vibe."

I work in localization and these AI idiots are obsessed with destroying entire non-English speaking markets just so they don’t have to pay bilingual people to confirm, “Hey, does this translation even make sense?”
