They need to bring back intermissions for movies. The best part of the opera is taking a break in the middle to get a little coffee and a little snack and see what everyone else is wearing. I will accept a long movie if they add an intermission

Poll True or false a movie's ability to be rated 5 stars hinges directly on whether or not it has a runtime absolutely not a second longer than 120 minutes oh what's that we don't have polls weird well it's True

Recently people in central Ohio where large populations of Haitian migrants live have noticed an increased amount of ICE vehicles around their areas. In Columbus, OH there was a noise demo outside the hotel ICE was staying in until around midnight when their check out was scheduled for 6am.

Poster for the noise demo that reads "No sleep for ICE Noise Demonstration Columbus, OH, tonight August 1st @ 9Pam large group of out-of-state agents are in town for TPS operations beginning this week in Columbus and Springfrield Hampton Inn Suites in Polaris 8411 Pulsar Pl"

Still reeling from going to the zoo this weekend and seeing an orangutan, which is basically a person, just sitting there in a hammock. I was tearing up imagining being a sentient creature in a captivity, then looked at my husband, who sighed a troubled sigh and murmured, “I wish I were in a zoo”

a great piece from Parker that i hope you all read. i would humbly add that no matter the issue, policy, statement, or scandal, we’re more than a decade into the MAGAverse and have seen how little we gain with cries of “aha, hypocrite!”—these freaks can’t act in good faith and don’t deserve yours

Every time someone calls Hegseth's testosterone program or Elon's hair plugs "gender affirming care," I wince. Speaking only for myself, and I know the jokes are well-intentioned: I wish we'd retire this one. New from me on why. www.readtpa.com/p/theres-no-...

In Minnesota, girls sell lemonade on the street to help their sisters arrested by ICE. Stephen Miller’s goons are very much still here. Sign reads, “Please help us raise money for my sisters because they were arrested by ICE” & this has been confirmed by trusted community members.

ICE kidnapped someone in broad daylight in San Francisco Tuesday morning, right next to a popular breakfast spot. They’re abducting and killing people again all across the country. I haven’t been able to get any information on what happened to the victim

One of my hardest-won political lessons is that it’s never, ever worth it to treat ppl as ~indispensable no matter what they do~ —bc we *see* the contributions & potential of the abusive men & we don’t get to see that in the women they drive out. We never actually get to know what we’ve squandered

this dynamic described by jenny racicot is, as i understand it, very common among progressive women in maine. they’ve been put in an impossible position and feel like they’re tanking platner’s campaign when in reality he did that on his own by being a violent and reckless person.

“One of the reasons I didn’t come forward sooner was, the huge moral conflict that I had between supporting his politics, but not supporting him as a person,” she said. “I just want the truth out there. I just want people to have a whole scope of who he is as a person.”

I just like I dunno I think it’s really bad that there’s one pro-rape party and one party that’s opposed to any consequences for the pro-rape party and that’s what we’ve got? And we’re not even allowed to talk about rape culture anymore because we were told that’s not a thing anymore

“But policy—“ Republicans truly do not care about your policy they just want to know that you either have raped someone or you at least think rape is good that’s it that’s the sole criteria (caveat: you must have raped someone to be considered for higher offices like Supreme Court or the presidency)

The wild thing to me is there are two major political parties in this country and one of them has being pro-rape as its sole uniting principle but rapists sometimes choose to run for the other one
