Great to see scenes of joy from Drumcree as people learn permission for the triumphalist Orange Order march has been revoked! Well done to this incredible community. It was an honour to stand with you. People power held the line against the Orange Order and sectarianism. ✊✊✊
The only road that gangs of Protestants should march down is the Goodison Road
There will be NO loyalists marching down the Garvaghy Road. As it should be of course. Well done to all the good people for standing firm ✊🇮🇪✊
Tremendous news that there will be no Orange Order march down the Garvaghy. A victory, not just for the residents, but for decency and the wider Nationalist community in the North. There will be no going back. Not now, not ever.
"freedom of speech" became code for a series of privileges our masters get. harsh punishments for speech is for us. tyranny
I love that it's totally cool and legal to use social media to rile up an angry hateful mob and incite them to attack doctors and send in bomb threats to children's hospitals but texting Shrek dong to a politician gets you hauled into court
The winner of Nobel peace prize doing what the Government of the United Kingdom will not do: calling Israel's actions in Gaza a genocide.
"The last thing I did is the report on Gaza naming what is happening there as genocide. One of the main reactions to that report [was] paying tribute to me for my courage.. why would you need courage to speak the truth?" Navi Pillay upon winning the 2026 Nobel peace prize
You know the xkcd strip about how all modern internet architecture is eventually built on something a hobbyist maintains for free? Someone went out and found them all. sheets.works/data-viz/hol...
An important difference between next week’s proposed strike and the diesel dads is that unions have democratically accountable leadership, countable members, transparent processes and give plenty of notice before taking a measure like this. Unions are rural Ireland too!
This is an inexplicable vote by Regina Doherty, Nina Carberry, Seán Kelly Barry Andrews, Barry Cowen, Billy Kelleher Ciaran Mullooly
Would like to see a journalist ask the 7 of Ireland's 14 MEPs (3 FG, 3 FF, 1 II) who just voted to: -endorse burqa bans -call "hatred of Israel" a sign of "Islamist influence" -identify European Muslim communities as potential tools of "malign foreign actors" to justify themselves
I've talked about this before, but it is very hard when you see how moral red lines are drawn, and the complete gutting of trans people's civil rights is entirely within an accepted norm and barely remarked upon even by many progressives.
It's just accepted as normal that the UK hates trans people and that's ok. It doesn't even register as something to be concerned about when most cis people are talking about the state of the country. Tired.
I've had to invent the expression 'tone dead' to describe this. #IrishPolitics www.thejournal.ie/canvass-fine...
Fine Gael canvassers get chilly reception from Dublin commuters ahead of price hikes
Budget 2027 has been criticised for leaving public transport commuters out in the cold, so it might come as no surprise that they were a bit frosty this morning.

Despite personally knowing someone killed on Oct 7th I went to a Palestine solidarity rally the next day. Not bc I wasn’t grieving but bc I knew from past Israeli wars how the IDF wld respond: to add to the 100 yr death toll countless, uncounted, uncountable Palestinian lives 1/2
This is the infuriating thing about the whole Heather Humphreys saga. "They call us sectarian just because we're in the Orange Order" YES BECAUSE IT'S A SECTARIAN ORGANISATION. If you can't understand that and interrogate what that means then you're not getting anywhere.
The way some people are talking about the Orange Order, they must think 'The Orange State' refers to some kind of fruit-driven agricultural policy pursued by the six county state from 1921-1973
Hey, I’m just asking questions. Ignorant questions, bigoted questions, questions that have been repeatedly answered for many years. Sorry, but I’m not listening to answers right now; I’m far too busy asking questions. It’s called being intellectually curious.
I know that nothing in the Orange world has to make sense in a way that humans would understand it but this is Bananas
The Orange Order has offered to walk away and never return but only if they secure one last march along the Garvaghy Road. There has been much speculation about the prospect of a “one and done’’ settlement to the Drumcree dispute which is now entering its second week.
🚨 Open letter from people of Protestant backgrounds concerning the Garvaghy Road 🚨 We feel compelled to speak publicly about what is happening in Portadown 🚨Over the past few hours we have collected over 140 signatures
The Mary Wallopers perform an impromptu gig this afternoon in support of the Garvaghy Road residents amidst the ongoing Drumcree stand-off. Read more: tinyurl.com/mtbma7a4
There are two simultaneous anti-choice protests raking place right now outside City Hall, 20 feet apart, one for the Catholics and one for the Protestants. This place has its drawbacks but ypu have to concede there is a rich seam in the comedy mines.
I think the Parades Commission's demented ruling and the "Supreme Court" Alice in Wonderland style transphobic insanity both show the difficulty of adapting a primitive and feudal system of government to constitutional norms.
Gavin Bazunu statement on withdrawing from Ireland squad Ireland only has 2 goal keepers in squad EUFA regulations require 3
On an awful day to be an Association Football fan. I can't describe the immense respect I have for Bazunu. He'll be proven right, he'll be beloved, and the rest of them will carry the shame forever
That this came down to a vote amongst the players (no doubt under strong pressure from the FAI), up to 7 players voted against playing the game, and yet it is still being played. Shambolic. And the 1 player who has withdrawn is a hero we need to protect. www.rte.ie/sport/soccer...

Gavin Bazunu the only player to boycott the match, Gav, hold your head high and know that you've done the right thing and took a stand. As for Troy Parrot, Caoimhin Kelleher, et al fuck off you spineless cunts. #Ireland #SpéirGhorm
The respect I have for Gavin Bazunu is immense. 24 years old with his career ahead of him and he made a decision that every other person in safer positions of power above him failed to have the courage to make themselves. A true representative of Irish people everywhere
