Watched the first episode of ABC's new TV series tonight called Dustfall with Anna Torv playing a detective. Blimey it was deeply intense and incredibly well done. Think my nervous system is still coming down from feeling emotional as I watched it. Hooked on it already.

Demolishing the idea of public housing
The United Nations’ special rapporteur on adequate housing, Koldo Casla, usually deals with slum demolitions in third-world countries. Last month, he took aim at the Victorian Labor government.

The Coalition has just announced its new immigration policy and it’s going to make us more divided, meaner and poorer as a nation. It’s bottom of the barrel politics cutting our refugee intake by 50% and forcing people seeking asylum to be at risk of starvation.
In the latest episode of “What’s the Point?” co-CEO Richard Denniss examines neoliberalism, and just how damaging it has been to our economy. Listen here or wherever you listen to your podcasts! ⤵️ australiainstitute.org.au/post/whats-the-point-of-neoliberalism/
Thought Headspace was meant to be the solution to everything. Cannot begin to describe my contempt for mental health policy from both Labor and Coalition. "Victorian Coalition pledges youth mental health focus if elected in November"
The state opposition has promised to expand the number of patient transit lounges at Victorian hospitals and invest in youth mental health if it wins next month's election.
The Coalition announces its new migration policy, which it claims will be 10% more racist than One Nations policy, and becoming increasingly more racist by 5% per year, until it wins power. #auspol #LNP #migration #racism
Disgusted by Angus Taylor and the Coalition's rhetoric on migration. It just never ends. Over it.
Coaliton migration policy would halve humanitarian visas, slash arrivals by 100,000
'Voters were asked: “Would you support or oppose publicly owned supermarkets being tried in Australia?” 84% said they strongly supported or somewhat supported the idea. Support was strongest among voters aged 25-34 (88%), Greens voters (96%) & women (88%).' www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

Got MyGov email this morning. Had usual panic attack. Logged into MyGov and it tells me my Medicare card expires in January and I needed to make sure postal address was correct. Thank Goddess.
What a disgrace. One Nation emboldens this sort of racist crap: 'The crowd booed when the Greens candidates began with a Welcome to Country, with some telling them to leave.' www.abc.net.au/news/2026-10...
Roads, renewables and state taxes spark debate at Ripon election forum
Renewable energy transmission lines, the emergency services levy and roads were contentious topics at a candidates' forum in the marginal regional Victorian electorate of Ripon on Sunday.

Binge watching 7 up in preparation for the latest 70 up to air on SBS on Wednesday. I'd forgotten how emotional it is at times listening to their experiences and views and the mixed feelings while watching the series more broadly.
One Nation fascists getting in early with the promise of extrajudicial punishment for their political enemies. Who else is on their list to 'disappear' if they come to power in Victoria?
One Nation is sickening. Threatening political opponents with prison is the language of dictatorship. Our courts must never become instruments of political revenge. Australia deserves better than One Nation.
"candidates include a former Liberal who won support from alleged underworld figures, a naturopath who endorsed Trump’s unfounded claim that paracetamol is linked to autism and a former shire councillor who lost his licence for drink-driving." One Nation's new vetting process is working a treat.
You know what not to do Victoria….right? www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...
Deeply concerning seeing coverage of One Nation's Victorian election campaign launch in tonight's news. Sickening that these vile people have any traction at all in November's state election.

A relief to hear rain on the roof. Getting a good drop of rain today, which is flowing nicely into the water tanks since one of the downpipes was fixed.
Barnaby Joyce was on ABC Melbourne radio and ranted non-stop, without answering questions and instead attacking Victoria. It was an absolute disgrace.
"he came straight out of the blocks with over-the-top rhetoric...and a strident left-wing economic agenda." Shoebridge is labelled "over-the-top", "strident" and "radical" because he's a challenge to the cosy toxic centrist neoliberal consensus of Australia's political and media class. #auspol
