Barely-functional curmudgeon Tired Leftist Queer ally, ride or die This shit? Definitely too old for it Sometimes writer Oh and, for the record . . . fuuuuuuuuuuck AI

Huh. Finally watched the trailer for Hobo With A Shotgun and I'm actually MAD I haven't seen that damned movie before. It looks, actually, shit it looks like Fist of the North Star but with a, well, Hobo With A Shotgun instead of a ridiculously-muscled man with a magic touch.

After what MRM's pulling - and with all the shit the AI company's are doing and the general start of the arts - I genuinely think someone needs to found a Creatives Union: a big blanket organization for writers, artists, musicians, etc. The money people are getting more and more predatory every day

In light of some magazines pulling scummy things on creators lately, I’m doing a little thread on short story rights. I don't want anybody getting taken advantage of. Also, if you're new, this stuff can be confusing!

I read “this isn’t who we are” as an exculpatory phrase, a call to inaction as the terrible thing being condemned is framed as an unfortunate exception. It does not register as a powerful rhetorical tool for anything other than looking at atrocity and washing hands clean of it.

Sorry but no, it is in fact notable that the US is doing something only very extremist regimes do. To willingly abandon “this isn’t who we are” as a response is to throw away a very powerful rhetorical weapon.

#pretendpanel #WritingCommunity #Writers #Authors #WritingPrompts I dunno. I always made up elaborate stories and characters when playing with my toys when I was little and on-and-off I'd write them down. I mostly spent years writers blocked, though, with no real idea how to move forward.

More and more I think the entire creative community just needs to blacklist these bastards, all of them. They know things are bad for everyone and they want to use that to force creatives to take worse pay and conditions, that and the threat of replacing people with AI.

🧵 Attention, Fellow SFF Artists and Authors -- here is my response to Must Read Magazines, after they presented an Asimov's art contract expecting me to waive all Moral Rights and Copyright to my art. And, I would strongly advise the following to my fellow pros…. 1/

John Picacio’s response to Must Read Magazine’s request for his waiver of all Moral Rights and Copyright of his commissioned art for an ASIMOV’S assignment. Short version — Picacio says a resounding NOPE.

Public Domain Art is the lifeblood of small tabletop rpgs, but it can be a nightmare trying to find the right art and license. This week, I’ve re-uploaded my old list from 2020 (with updates) of public domain websites. That's 500,000+ public domain paintings, photos, maps, and film. Link below 🔗👇
