So it's like if free speech was not equally free the same to all. The richer you get the freer you can impose speech to others. It misses guarantees of equality between people. It's often that's hard to understand the constitution without taking into account human rights and society laws.

In 1986, contracting HIV meant you were going to die, usually slowly, painfully, and alone. Now it's a chronic illness like hypertension. In 1986, gay and lesbian couples couldn't have their relationships legally recognized and had to adopt elaborate legal workarounds.

Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.

air travel is one of those experiences that has gotten monotonically worse over my entire lifetime

question though: has *anything* in the last 40+ years genuinely gotten *better*?

like, there's *more* stuff, sure, but is any of it *better*?

Organizing yet more photos of my dad for a celebration of life we’re soon hosting in Pittsburgh and struck by the immense narrative difference between old film roll or Polaroid candids and the infinite retakes we get with ultra high-def iPhones. Simply changes the nature of memory and history.

𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚🚨 51st(actually the 52nd+) person dies because of #ICELawlessness, torture & neglect this year. On 8/1, Edwin Lopez-Cornejo, just 41, died in ICE detention after being brutalized & denied medication by Trump's immigration thugs. It's being done in our name with our taxpayer dollars.

Two contrasting reasons to click on this link. One: free access to a fascinating NYT article about behind the scenes US political machinations. Two: if keen, you can also follow my theories about what the article implies re Atlas Network & frenemies 2026. lucyham29.substack.com/p/the-nyt-pa...

The NYT paints a portrait of the world of Heritage and Atlas in 2026

A link to a fascinating article...or another weedsy post for the people interested in following the Atlas Network story. Your choice.

This is absolutely insane disinformation. It could not be more inaccurate. And yet, it also reflects the wider disinformation about this initiative. Let's walk through it: First, an ID isn't involved at any part of the process of buying groceries at these stores. At all.

Tweet from Polymarket: JUST IN: NYC Mayor Mamdani reveals ID will be required at city-owned grocery stores to prevent non-residents from accessing discounted food.

absolutely fascinating that you feel the need to call this out (using fox news!) but are silent about islamophobic and racist comments coming from YOU and your campaign. you're really driving home the message that you care about some people more than others.

It’s hard to explain but tv was better when you couldn’t watch the show you wanted whenever you wanted to watch it and most of the shows were worse and the TVs were worse and the entire experience was worse, that’s when it was better
