Remember that by killing the Villages Plan, Sean, ABC, & "Green" Pete Fry scuttled Complete Communities, an essential Big Move of the Climate Emergency Action Plan. 1000s will commute in cars from exurbs & fossil gas will heat more homes, regardless of what CoV rules say.

Remember as your eyes burn from the smoke today, Ken Sim and ABC voted to allow fracked gas in new builds, cancelled $8 million in climate retrofit grants; voted against funding for cooling kits for people in the Downtown Eastside; and got rid of the climate justice charter.

two days after Vancouver city council voted down their own Villages Plan, west side residents who opposed the plan en masse are complaining that Dunbar (!!) doesn’t have any wine bars, boutiques or gyms — the kind of amenities that require neighbourhood density to support

Hi fellow neighbours. Have you ever wondered why Dunbar has been so slow to develop decent shops and restaurants? Dunbar & King Ed; Dunbar & W 16th; Dunbar & W 41st - all pretty well trafficed intersections yet theres no decent pub, restaurant or wine bar. No boutique shops or decent shopping. There's also no decent gym besides the community centres which are fine but not if you like specialized equipment.
What gives? I've been in Dunbar for over 10 years & more recently moved to Southlands. Before that was in Kits. Kits is vibrant but a different crowd.
Would love to see some better business development in Dunbar / Southlands & area.
Closest thing is Kerrisdale - concentrated to a few blocks, still only one decent wine bar - not much selection.

Today's "One Album A Day" album: The Dude: Do you find them much, these, stolen cars? Younger Cop: Sometimes. Wouldn't hold out much hope for the tape deck though. Older Cop: Or the Creedence.

His sole argument is "i'm rubber you're glue it bounces off me and sticks to you" I remember writing "SSBB" on my arm when I was like 9 because that meant "supersonic bounceback" and that's how you bounced insults from friends back to them Elon Musk hasn't progressed past that 9 year old stage.

Absolute crash out from Musk after he’s presented with the reality that many, many people fucking hate him

Always good to keep in mind that it does not matter how the fire starts. Fires start all the time, but what really matters is the high heat and low humidity to dry out fuels causing the fire to spread rapidly. And these conditions are increasing every year with anthropogenic climate change.

All three fires are suspected to be human-caused, which is how any wildfire not sparked by lightning is categorized. https://ow.ly/jxs650Zrv5Y

I love driving on 7th Ave between 6th and moody park. No worries about cyclists trying to navigate parked cars. Clearly marked parking spaces and new planting. Really makes driving around New West easier.

More on the #NewWest Council Strategic Priorities Plan “report card” from last week. One of the pillars was supporting economic development that focussed on serving the local community, small businesses, artists, & residents of #NewWest. 3 years later the indicators - and the vibes - are good!
