Slept under a duvet instead of just a sheet for the first time in weeks - I must be in Scotland!
I really enjoyed this history of queuing, particularly the bit where they got rid of loads of queues and didn't have anything for people to do when they weren't queuing... an illusion of freedom!

The July 2026 issue includes an article by a student I taught for whom this was her grade 11 independent research project: scholarship.claremont.edu/jhm/vol16/is... She explored an area of #mathematics called "queueing theory" and wrote all about it in the context of Disney! #iTeachMath ♾️
You can/should read Emily Wilson's latest take on the Odyssey, but I'm logging on to convey my hairdresser's reaction. She was AGHAST that Nolan, with his million $ budget, gave Matt Damon ONLY 6 hair extensions. As a result, his hair did not blow around properly, & that ruined the film for her.

Felt compelled to leave a 5 🌟 google review for the little Greggs next to the Travelodge - the staff are perfectly nice (British customer service nice, not American!) and it's a GREGGS, you have to moderate expectations! I think they had a bunch of grumpy foreign tourists leaving bad reviews

Final day of my art course. I made it to day 2 before going on an anti-AI rant (I did include a mini talk about LLMs vs ML vs just normal programming) and day 3 before my usual "you CAN do maths, you're doing maths all the time, because geometry and proportional reasoning are both maths"
