Streets are dominated by oversized vehicles, piloted by aggressive and distracted drivers where one mistake can turn lethal. We sacrificed child development to subsidize the auto industry.
Despite how difficult everything has been pretty much forever, I did make it back to the place I never should have left in the first place.

I ran across a "Lucky Scoops" livestream on Youtube one time and was so extremely and thoroughly confused about why people were paying $80-100 for mystery bags of Temu resin/plastic jewelry that I couldn't look away. Then I found out this kind of thing is everywhere, and it's basically just gambling
I've been thinking about this kind of negative polarization a lot and it's Not Great.

I don't have anything but ire for Amazon, buy they are not unique in the concept of not going to the store. That is ahistorical. Mass market mail order "everything" catalogs have been around since the 1870s, and almost all of the same arguments were leveled against Montgomery Ward for inventing it.
Here’s the bigger ask I mentioned: I owe $6k in back rent. I’ve been selling my limited belongings to reduce the number but it is slow going and I can’t hope to cover it all, especially not in the short time I have. I have enough to cover October rent and little more. More details below.
