Had a blast getting roasted by Hoid and painting Vin for The Lightweaver Foundation on Saturday. A great cap to a great week. I really am lucky to be part of such a phenomenal community. The warmth, passion, and generosity of my fellow artists never stops blowing me away.

I received a call for illustrators from the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. They're looking for someone to draw 5 realistic, color illustrations about lives of free and enslaved Africans and African Americans in New York State during 17th-19thc.

Gently annoying broody hens is a good way to get them to leave the next and get their hormones back to normal levels. It's also a good instrument.
I don’t “network,” I make friends. Other artists are not my competition, they’re my beloved peers and sources of inspiration. We all have the same goal; to share our art. I’m not gonna corporatize my human relationships with them. I am in my sandbox playing and I hope they join me.
It's interesting to see the reactions of all my friends and peers getting into Dragoncon. So much excitement and relief. Me? I mostly feel terror. 🤣 But I'm also excited. Looking forward to seeing you all in Atlanta this September!
Exploring DaVinci Resolve to see if it can replace Lightroom for me. Attempting to import my MASSIVE catalog. Been sitting on a spiny blue wheel for 20 minutes. Fingers crossed it's just doing its thing and not frozen.

I actually love sharing process, but I prefer writing over video editing. But that aside, I feel this so hard. Also, for the love of art do NOT pour varnish. Apply as little as possible with a brush.

Really excited to get to be a part of the Character in Context show. I mean just take a look at that line up! If you can come to the grand opening I highly encourage you to do so. I'll be there along with many other artists in the show and several will be doing live painting demos.

This is similar to my experience in illustration. "Connections" and "networking" really should be translated to "community". It's acquaintances that grow into friendships by repeatedly showing up and having a shared interest in fantasy art.

“Connections” in comics is just you make friends when you’re a bunch of unknown dorks and then you all come up together! That’s usually all it is.
