Stuck between the reactions of: “hahaha” and “fuck off”. You??
Anyone that’s ever done a wicked problems system map, can tell you, in gov were all doing the same thing. I’m tired folks. Prevent poverty Feed, educate and get kids active Better housing Not Ai, not apps, not think tank bullshit.
It might feel a bit early, but I’ve had so many requests already… My 2025 Christmas Cards are now available to pre-order www.gailmyerscough.co.uk/christmas-ca...
Shout out to everyone at #SDinGov! I’m not there, but I’ll be following with interest. A quick reminder that I help maintain a list of all UK gov digital services, including links to service assessments and code: govuk-digital-services.herokuapp.com If your service is missing, let me know!

Eeeek I'm presenting at #SDinGov tomorrow! Come and see us talk about how data can - and did - improve services. Please be a data advocate 📊🙏
Stuff I’ve enjoyed working on recently: - getting agreement to gather data to enable us to measure Failure Demand, through classifying phone calls - showing that Digital Take-up of the application journey (95%+) hides a lot of telephony traffic between that and the application being competed
I am going to propose a new hashtag in Vicky's honour. She leaves behind such a fabulous legacy of public service and personal support, wisdom and insights. #BeMoreVicky
If you wish to send a message to the friends and family of Vicky Teinaki, @vickytnz.bsky.social, about how much she meant to us and the community she was so much a part of, please add them here. I now have access to a compilation by a close friend of hers (not on BlueSky) and will add ours.
Dyscalculia is persistent difficulty in understanding numbers. Roughly 4 million people in the UK are dyscalculic. 20% to 60% of dycalculics might also have dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism or ADHD. Dyscalculia is under diagnosed and research is decades behind dyslexia. dyscalculianetwork.com

Loving tbe @policyviz.bsky.social tip "Start with gray", then layering on colour, instead of the opposite 🩶
Just had a meeting with a senior stakeholder. They said "I love having meetings with you, Catherine, I love how your mind works" 🥰

Dying to do these charts all on the same scale... 🤓
NEW: Why do we always think crime is rising, even when it isn’t? This week I looked at one of the big data mysteries. Britain is 2/3 less violent than the 1990s; thefts were higher pre-lockdown Why, then, doesn’t it feel like it? 1/8 @thetimes.com 🔗 www.thetimes.com/article/b63d...
I just correctly guessed the two digit 2FA code to get into a thing at work 👌 How's your day going?
I've just had a spicy monster munch sandwich and I'm not even sorry
Hi I'm a statistician for UK Government. My claim to fame is being on the team who made the charts for the BBC press briefings during COVID. Next slide please...
With the influx of dataviz people, let's do some re-intros. 📊 — What's your claim to fame? ✨ — How might we know you already? What have you done that we might have seen or read before? What would help us remember how we came across you? Don't be shy: it's helping us reconnect and remember you 💡
“Check email for important notices, read the newsletter for company news, check Slack for team updates, use the Employee Portal for HR policies, look at the CEO blog for strategy updates & don’t forget to look at MS Teams every 5 minutes for other information as required” Every employee everywhere:
Oooh I REALLY like this rule: I will be using it and advising other to use it from now on 🙌
I just recalled that I have another claim to #dataviz fame. 📊 The y-axis of line charts doesn't have to start at zero. But then, where should they start? I suggested using the golden ratio, and it took off at the time. 📈 Some media and software used it. chezvoila.com/blog/yaxis/
Spent 15 mins with a colleague showing him the MI report I commissioned from data I got operational staff to collect. “This is exactly what I need!” he said 🙌 Let’s make better decision 👍
Your org cannot design or deliver functioning ecosystems because it does not have controlled lists of things, types, what each thing is, standards, definitions and naming conventions. Boring to many, in comparison to fancy Figma doodles, but you can't do anything meaningful without them.
