Resetting our relationship with Europe is the fastest way to boost growth. It's time to cut red tape, back small businesses, and join the Single Market and Customs Union. @libdemdaisy.bsky.social

Liberal. Economics & Business. Governance. Making the argument for Britain’s return at the heart of Europe.
"Cool dude, see you in discovery!" is the obvious UNO Reverse card to Trump's attempts to bully organizations by suing them for a trillion dollars. It's a massive indictment of the US system that one after another institutions and major organizations settled and paid bribes rather than play it.
President Donald Trump is seeking to stave off a court order that requires him to begin giving the BBC financial details on his business empire by Thursday in connection with a defamation lawsuit he is pressing against the network. www.politico.com/news/2026/08...
But they seemed like such nice, patriotic, community-minded chaps. (Except the ones currently facing murder, child abuse & assault charges, obviously.)
Leaders of flag-raising group Raise the Colours Oxfordshire placed trackers on highway workers’ cars to find out their home addresses, the High Court has heard. RTC then attempted to intimidate the highway staff into no longer removing flags by repeating their addresses to them.
Datapoint nr. 940 indicating a structural inability within UK elites to grasp how much European integration has become a state-building project

I recall we had a period of time where the response of Starmer and Cooper to concerns about these groups was ‘I like flags’

Once again we wake up to the news of horrible atrocities by Russia through its aerial attacks on Ukraine. Russia must pay for the destruction it has caused. And we are using the proceeds from the immobilised Russian assets to make sure it does.
Thinking again about what @lewisgoodall.com said here. And the real question is this: why isn’t it reasonable in the era of disinformation to protect those who have expertise?
“I’m glad we live in a country that is deferential to expertise - but at times in the pandemic, that did go too far.” “I’m not sure school closures were a price worth paying.” Lewis on how ‘legitimate questions’ have emerged - and should be asked - about how we handled Covid.
Badenoch is a complete clown. She refuses to select people who support net zero policies (which where originated by her party) but she is ok to welcome former Nazis. Can't wait for the next time she starts lecturing other parties on anti-semitism... #r4today
Palantir 2024 net profit globally was $468 million. UK sales represent 11% of their sales. So the profit after tax in U.K. should have been $50 million; suggesting something very dodgy going on.
Palantir paid just £2m corporation tax in UK in 2024 despite lucrative public sector contracts
I'd like to thank Donald for all he did ti help make this possible.
⚡️Update: Russian ballistic missile attack kills 15, injures 51 in Kyiv and surrounding area as rescue efforts continue. A massive Russian attack killed 15 people and injured 51 others in Ukraine's capital and Kyiv Oblast as fires engulfed Kyiv and its suburbs, authorities reported Aug. 5.
SpaceX revenues: $10 billion costs: $18 billion What are people smoking valuing it at more than $1 trillion?
The war. It always comes back to the war. That happened long before they were born.
A Russian paratrooper jumped at Airborne Forces Day celebrations outside Moscow. His parachute failed to open and he crashed to his death. Making a perfect analogy for this war.
The world should impose a tariff on the US for their criminal role in the climate change disaster.
The US is enduring one of its worst wildfire seasons in years, with blazes scorching millions of acres and forcing thousands from their homes after a snow-starved winter in Western states left forests primed to burn
The state of this. A lovely day out for Badenoch and Philp, playing dress up and making pronouncements about early release schemes - having left the country with one hundred available men's prison places, after fourteen years in charge. You read that right. One hundred places.
More evidence that Reform voters are not like other people in the UK. Show them some potential corruption and they’re all in.
Fun fact: the same patients voted for #Brexit so many European nurses and doctors left. And the NHS needs have been filled from other countries, like Nigeria, India, etc.
2. There *is* an important point here about context! The rise in racism against NHS staff is driven in large part by the simultaneous sharp growth in both non-white NHS staff *and* the growth in explicitly xenophobic/anti-immigrant rhetoric in UK politics. A point worth making!
In Brexitopia, 'policy' only exists in a campaigning/making-noise sense that plays on people's frustrations with the real world. It doesn't actually work in reality. Detail and hard questions are its enemy. bsky.app/profile/theg...

“Outfoxed“? 88 people died, most of them Maroccans. But sure, let’s go with “outfoxed”, FFS.
The failure here is of the EU's externalisation policy that puts countries at the mercy of Morocco, Turkey, Libya, Belarus etc whenever such countries find it useful to exercise leverage. Yet that's exactly the policy being pushed by Sanchez's opponents such as Meloni and Frederiksen.
The micro bulletin on 6 Music leads with Farage followed by vox-pops with boomers saying the hot weather is glorious. Anyone defending this trash because it's the BBC is in love with their childhood.
OTD in 1916 USA recognized Greenland as part of Denmark. Trump's plans to annex it have caused people like Mearsheimer a lot of mental anguish as USA, the country they oppose, acts like Russia, the country they appease
The Wildberries facility in Krasny Bor, Leningrad region, in Russia had an area size of 154,000 square meter with its latest portion being completed in March 2026.
There is a very elegant solution for Britain to get rid of the small boats people smuggling. If the government adopts this solution, the gangs will be smashed in just 1 second. Yes, 1 second; and the problem will go away.
Rebekah Brooks, CEO of News UK, herself cleared of phone hacking charges in 2014, called Liddle "an inimitable journalistic force." That's one word for it. The word most of his targets would use is unprintable. He had a long career. The women, minorities & disabled people he mocked have longer scars
Rod Liddle has died. The Sun and Spectator gave him a platform for decades. Here's what that platform actually looked like. 🧵
The tone continues shifting: during today’s meeting of ambassadors, Spain received broad support from other EU countries, which highlighted how swiftly the Ceuta crisis was brought under control. Ambassadors stressed the need to properly apply EU migration rules and have reliable data.
This is an important letter from von der Leyen to counter the political narrative of recriminations and finger-pointing against Spain. She frames irregular migration as a challenge that “requires a common European response, united action and solidarity”. The 27 must stand together.
Unless and until you disagree with and rebut Nigel Farage's contention that refugees who wish to be in the UK are the responsibility of France, he will bounce back from every scandal.
