Cat in the Shell

Chronically ill and online writer. Very queer—as in gay & trans but also weird. (Adult btw) More @ https://catoperated.carrd.co ⚧️ALL pronouns (mix ‘em up when referring to me) No GenAl. Self-proclaimed allies prove it by giving me $50.

Should probably make a gfm for all the medical bullshit happening lately (got a surprise $178 bill from something months ago, to name one ) but just the thought writing it all up is too much right now everything really happens so much

What horseshit. She embraced gay people at the height of the AIDS crisis, embraced trans people at the height of the war against them, supported Black communities and artists, and wrote the most pro-worker's rights feminist pop song of all time. Neutral my ass

"At a time when no American celebrity seems immune from the country’s many divisions, Dolly Parton was a crossover icon who stayed neutral in the culture wars while still speaking her mind," writes Zachary B. Wolf. | Analysis

Just reminding aloud into the void here that the Zyprexa settlement was nearly 1.5 billion Nobody is protecting americans. Nobody gives a fuck whether we live or die. Our entire lives all just lines in some evil asshole's spreadsheet. www.justice.gov/archives/opa...

Meta is in the midst of a trial for addicting children to its websites. It could cost them $200 billion (or even $1.4 *trillion* by some accounts). It could be the end of social media as we know it, and @ryanlcooper.com feels fine: "Social media... is a gravely toxic institution."

Dear artists, You NEED to keep in contact with your commissioners. That's right, all of them. If they paid you money, you MUST communicate with them and tell them what's going on. You cannot just ghost someone for months and months after promising a quick turnaround and expect them to be happy!

Why was Dolly able to do all these things? Because BMI (and ASCAP) protect songwriter’s rights and songwriters are paid royalties for everything. Dolly never sold her immense catalog of songs and it made her a 9-figure fortune.

Dolly Parton was an uncredited producer on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. When she learned the only female producer was making less than her male counterparts, Dolly cut her a check for the difference, on the spot.

We’re going to hear about how everyone loved Dolly, and that feels true. But it’s good to remember, and to her credit, that she was attacked for her AIDS activism, her vaccine advocacy, her LGBTQ+ support and even, more recently, for her reading initiatives. She ALWAYS stood firm when it mattered.
