When your brain keeps slipping into a different tense when writing a draft? You are writing in the wrong tense. Don’t push another 20k hoping it’s a fluke—your brain will eventually boycott writing in its entirety until you concede. [grumbles to self as she goes off to fix the whole stupid draft]
