#FantasyindiesAugust Day 4: Favourite folklore Inclatia's folklore grew out of stories from older clans like Rhestatyn, which had a lot of influence over their early history. Other stories discourage undesirable behaviours or warn youngsters to avoid dangerous places.

#Augustworldbuilders Day 4: School culture It is really an extension of family life which involves the whole clan. There are no nuclear families (mom, dad, kids). Education can be formalised (set time/ location) but it is also often incorporated into everyday life.

#AugustWorldbuilders, hey there friends! What is the general vibe like at your world's school? Are the students polite and mature? Are there bullying problems? Do they do a lot of group work or is it more focused on individual study?

#augustworldbuilders Day 3: Specialised schools for specific professions Yes. Depending on their clan of origin, knyads would start specialising after the age of 6 (which is more like their teens as they grow quickly in their early years). Most gain a more practical education for their vocation 1/2

Good day, #AugustWorldbuilders! Today's Q: does your world have specialized schools for people seeking a specific job or trade? Or anything like a magic or military school?

#FantasyindiesAugust Day 3: Covers I illustrated all my covers and title typography. I usually favour a painterly style or more 2D graphics with some texture overlays. Below are the covers for my novelette, the Apidecca Duology, and the anthology, Together is a Distant Star.

#FantasyindiesAugust Day 1: Introductions Hello, I am Coe. I recently completed my sci-fantasy duology and am taking a break to read more. However I may stop by to talk about my novella or short novel. I outlined it a while ago but plan to update the story.

#FantasyindiesJuly Monthly Wrap Up Thank you, hosts. I will keep showing up from time to time. In my monthly blog post, I talk about my first month of having a complete duology. I also cover my understanding of my asexual character, and the tension between self acceptance and restless hope.

July Blog Post: On post-release feelings, a hardcover that should be available next week, and a short audiobook. cblansdell.com/2026/07/31/j...

For those unaware, my local community was devastated by an EF-3 tornado earlier this week. My family and I are fine, and suffered pretty minimal damage all things considered (mostly cleaning up a lot of tree branches at my grandma's), but others were not so lucky.

#fantasyindiesjuly [My book is out, but I will still join in where relevant] Day 24: Is your character a good friend? We all need different kinds of friends. Prismer: Not the person to call in an emergency – she wouldn't be checking her messages often enough. Good for keeping you company... 1/2

Helyna just made my day and possibly my month. So many wonderful books are on her list, and it was so special to see mine there too. This little thread about Far Removed will motivate me to keep writing! 💕

#SPAAW 💙📚 The first things that drew me to Far Removed by C. B. Lansdell were the cover (created by the author), the promise of a story about a non-human civilization inhabiting a distant moon, then Coe's delightful discussions about world-building and characters on social media. Reading the book,

Good morning! Fun bee fact of the day: Happiness is contagious for bees! There have been literal studies done in which one bee was given sugar solution to boost her mood, and all of a sudden, any bee who could see that first bee started acting upbeat too. Source: www.vice.com/en/article/s...

Scientists Say Bees Can Feel Happiness—and It’s Contagious

We like to think we humans are so special because we can express a range of emotions. It’s not that special, it turns out.
