Writes, edits, talks, creates, mostly about soccer. Drop a line whenever.

I should clarify slightly that Fadner's letter states he's the owner of Soccer America, not specifically the publisher. But it's the same general point: the title is up for sale, and we are all going to be a lot worse off if it goes under.

I believe tonight's RSL-Tigres game is Morgan Guilavogui's first career match against a Concacaf side from outside MLS, but... ... this little exchange with Fernando Gorriarán after drawing a foul to relieve pressure for his side tells me he's figuring things out quickly

Anyone remember when the Crew rejected a Toulouse offer less than half of this amount, and were alleged, by some, to be 'holding him hostage' and thus holding back the USMNT? To be fair, that was one whole year ago, it can be pretty hard to recall such ancient history

Max Arfsten joins Middlesbrough from Columbus Crew - Transfer details revealed Story for @transfermarkt.co.uk www.transfermarkt.us/max-arfsten-...

More incendiary stuff. Prince Ali, the FA president from Jordan, who was a rival to Infantino in his first election in 2016, alleges FIFA attempted to effectively blackmail theJordanian FA, withholding funds until they had provided backing to Infantino for next year’s election.

I'm definitely NOT trusting Schneider et al inherently. But it's become clear this platform has a scale problem and needs to grow in order to provide the experience peak Twitter offered, before it got hijacked + Muskified. I see the lack of scale every day. It discourages people from coming over.

Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."

Apparently Hull City are prepared to pay $27 million or beyond for the Rapids' 18-year-old Australian center back as they prepare for life back in the English Premier League. Huge talent; still a surreal sum

Colorado Rapids beat Austin FC on a late Rafa Navarro penalty. It was an unconvincing but needed win. It could have been Lucas Herrington's final match for the Pids: burgundywave.com/2026/08/01/r...

Lucas Herrington plays in the secondary Headwaters kit for Colorado Rapids.

The Seattle Sounders have lost 6 straight matches for the first time in their MLS existence, they seem to pick up another set of injuries every single game and next they have to play 3 Liga MX teams in 8 days, starting with North American champions Toluca @ 8,760 ft above sea level on Wednesday. 😬

By scoring the game-winning goal and adding three assists tonight, FC Cincinnati's Evander became just the fourth player in MLS history to record at least 10 goals and 10 assists in three consecutive seasons. He joins Luciano Acosta (2022-24), Hany Mukhtar (2021-23), and Preki (1996-98).

Holy f***ing sh**, Evander I've never seen a player do incredible things as nonchalantly as this dude FC Cincy rally from 2-1 down to 3-2 up in a flash; their Brazilian 10 involved in all 3 goals

The brutally cold, hard reality of North American sports economics (and it's just that: the financial calculations of venues and their managers) is that a few professional players are judged to be worth the extra time and effort required to grow grass, and most others are not.

#LAFC’s Hugh Lloris spoke tonight in Vancouver and was asked about the new BC Place turf. "No, we don't talk about this. To be honest, I will repeat the same, it's really hard for football players to play on this field. It's almost a different sport, you know because of the bounce, the sand." #MLS

As an inveterate Florida liker, I can't help but dig Inter Miami's visual aesthetic in general, and I'd say they did well w/ the new third kit they wore tonight, tho the white's a bit staid. Based on the trajectory of their alternate unis to date, I've worked up a rendering of what might be next:

BildBildBildBild

Vancouver Whitecaps vs LAFC has been a hilariously one-sided first half, hosts absolutely dominant, locking LA into the suffer cave... Then Tristan Blackmon made one mistake. 1-0 LAFC via Sonny
