Alyx, Serotonin Not Included

Former musicologist. A little obsessed with games, cats, horror, and witchcraft. Chaotic bisexual. Incredible bibliophile. Disabled, ADHD, two parts wholesome cinnamon roll and two parts macabre little weirdo. She/he/they. (Art by StinaMarie).

Please hate gen AI even harder. You can do it. I believe in you. Do it for the planet. Hate the lazy, slop producing, environment killing, water draining, participation trophy seeking, poser creating, loser machine. Do it for humanity.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

An aircraft passenger oxygen mask: a drop down passenger mask with air bag and yellow plastic mouth and nose cover, oxygen tube has been cut; Demonstration model used by flight attendant crew for passenger instruction. Has text on the side indicating that it's non-functional.

Don't let the Ai discourse discourage you aspiring writers out there. Art is valued by its rarity, and the rarest thing in the world is the talent of a single individual. What can be mass produced for cheap has little value. You are an original. A one of a kind. A bespoke wonder. Never forget that.

Today is a recovery day, because I pushed too hard yesterday. I did manage to get dressed, and I'm wearing a retro 50s-style dress with a kind of poofy skirt, with petticoats underneath. My little floof cat, Apollo, has decided to burrow at my feet in the petticoats, and it's the cutest thing ever.

Post root-canal, the numbness is wearing off, and my teeth are sore, and I can't stop thinking about the fact that they're withering and dying because someone methodically scooped out their innards and replaced them with cement, and soon they'll be dead corpses hanging from the roof of my mouth.

I found Scarleteen when I was in college in 2004, a tiny Evangelical teen feeling shame for wanting to masturbate. They do SUCH GOOD WORK on this subject. Maybe you're an exvangelical who struggles with feelings of shame and impurity like I did. This is a really, really good resource.

Seen people talking about “sex addiction” and “porn addiction"? These are not real medical diagnoses. Dr. Amy Marsh explains, with information for people who are concerned about the role of sex and porn in their lives. www.scarleteen.com/read/sex-s...

Text: "Want the fact on porn and sex 'addiction'? Dr. Amy Marsh sets the record straight on a misunderstood term. Read it on Scarleteen," alongside a person squinting one eye into a magnifying glass they're holding up to their face.

I have a double root canal today on my two front teeth (thanks to getting my teeth knocked out by a tennis racket when I was 17) so I regret to inform you all that I have no time or energy for global existential dread today. You may all carry on as normal. Thank you.

Had a stress meltdown today because I couldn't open my dresser drawer to get a shirt out (my wife had kind of jammed the clothes in because she was in a hurry to get it done.) Then I realized: this is WAY better to stress about than everything ELSE there is out there. Now I'm in a great mood.

Gonna put this simply: My day is better because yall create. Either as illustrators, writers, coders, musicians, voice actors, performers etc. Whether you have a large multimedia project or just a little lore for your OCs you keep for yourself. The world is better because you create. <3

I've been catching up on classic horror because I wasn't allowed to watch it as a kid. Today: Event Horizon. I wasn't expecting to like it based on the effects at the start. But damnit, I had a great time. Rest in peace, Sam Neill. You never did defeat Lawrence Fishburne, but that's okay.

Adrian needs help keeping a roof over their head, even temporarily. I know times are tough all around and money is tight, but even a little bit helps. Imagine what we can do if we all contribute a little bit to keeping our neighbors safe and healthy. chuffed.org/project/1652...

Housing Support for a Black Trans Person!

April 14th, 2026 update: Hello--life has been a whirwind these last few months so, I'm putting an update here for transparency as well! I haven't found employment yet which means I still need to crowd...

Multnomah County Library has asked me to be a part of their "What's in My Bag?" video series, much like Amoeba Records does, but with books in the library. Of all the cool things that have happened in my writing life, this is ABSOLUTELY one of the coolest. What an honor. I love the library so much.

Apropos of nothing, my rural grocery store has started stocking my favorite brand of yogurt again after five years off their shelves. (I'm so excited. Anyone who knows rural shopping can tell you it's impossible to find some things without at least an hour's drive.)

Our trans friends are not expendable. They are not "acceptable" collateral damage. And no one who votes for Republicans will vote for a dem over them abandoning trans rights. HUMAN RIGHTS ARE ALWAYS THE RIGHT THING TO DO. So do it, politicians. Do the right thing. That's the whole playbook.

in the wake of Amy Acton's anti-trans turn in Ohio, I will re-up this @bostonreview.bsky.social essay where I make the case that abandoning trans rights is BAD POLITICS for Dems, as it will turn away their own pro-LGBTQ base w/o winning over a single new voter... www.bostonreview.net/forum/how-no...
