'You'll choke too' - an aerial embroidery landscape inspired by all the wildfires happening right now... I'm upset every time I smell smoke outside and somehow we have people starting them maliciously too! But we all breathe the same air so they'll choke too (1/2 - see thread for close-ups)

An embroidery hoop containing a sewn landscape from above. It shows a forest on the right, a line of fire and charred ground with smoke on the left. The smoke is felted wool.

honestly can't stress enough, as a former family law attorney, how depressingly common Max Miller's behavior and words are, right down to the petty fixation on custody procedure and rules when faced with allegations of shocking violence.

Rep. Max Miller: "When I was reported for child abuse of my daughter for a broken collarbone, my daughter was in my ex-wife's care 9 out of the last 11 days and she took her to the emergency room, which is a contempt violation from our shared parenting plan."

A more global point: "But she doesn't really know *film*" is credential-challenging that happens to women but rarely to men. Yet when @emilyrcwilson.bsky.social undoubtedly meets a guy at a dinner party who just saw the Nolan film and wants to talk, I know which contestant the gods will favor.

The idea that there's a level of film knowledge that will make your criticism more correct than anyone else's is bullshit. Knowledge of film history/technique can give context and help articulate for the reader how/why a film works or doesn't, but so can...knowing the source material.

Keeping seeing the take: "@emilyrcwilson.bsky.social is smart and all, but she doesn't know *film* and so she doesn't really *get it.*" My bros in Christ, opinions about films are ALWAYS informed by life experiences. There is no such thing as pure film criticism! Knowing "film" biases you, too!

My People Want Little Treats omni-theory stays winning: A new material good? A treat. A simple theory? A treat. A thing to complain about? A treat. A sense of superiority? A treat. The goods and the discourse are the same.

there is a strain of lefty discourse where you can’t come to any unflattering conclusions about the populace—those must be explained away by how they are being acted upon by capital—but I think you’ll understand things better if you understand capital can also exploit weaknesses it didn’t create

I think this thread is basically what I believed when I began covering the consumer system and while a lot of what Nathan is describing is factually correct as to the mechanisms by which the system itself works, I’ve eventually had to admit that a lot of people also do just love cheap bullshit

I think this is fundamentally wrong but in an interesting way I will need to write about sometime. The key is a) consumers do not choose what is produced, or how, they choose between what is produced. This is a crucial difference

(And what do we get out of it? Our weapons manufacturers make bank and Big Tech fuels its AI boom with all the GPUs manufactured from the coltan and rare earth minerals extracted by enslaved children at mines guarded by US- and UAE- funded paramilitaries.)

They are literally buying Donald Trump's loyalty through stablecoin. And for that they get lots of our weapons. Everything Israel does, the UAE also does - from buying elections, to genocide with our weapons, to sexual violence as a weapon.

What's the common denominator? The UAE. Even as Israel gets far too little criticism for its genocide and influence campaigns, the UAE somehow gets *even less* despite ALSO spending millions of dollars on influence campaigns, lobbying, and buying lawmakers.

Bombshell new report out from my investigators this morning spanning our four year investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s financial records. This report shows exactly how Wall Street protected Epstein and enabled his sex trafficking for decades. Mega thread following with some key points:
