Hidden Routes to Hidden Taste

It is a beautiful day and I was craving Indian food so I decided to ride to Hidden Taste for their lunch menu, which is good even though I wished the lamb curry plate had some vegetables (they are not a sponsor so I can say whatever I want). The experience of getting there was not ideal. I used the leisurely route to get to Orléans Boulevard, which is the logical crossing of the 174 to get there.

Before now, you may not have known that there is a local organization who has been dedicated to protecting our Ottawa River. If so, let me introduce you to The Ottawa Riverkeeper: a charitable organization that has been advocating, educating, and ensuring the Ottawa River watershed is swimmable, drinkable, and fishable since 2001. The Ottawa Riverkeeper (OR) is an organization made up of 16 team members, including Convent Glen’s own, Laura Reinsborough, who is Riverkeeper and CEO.

I have seen a few posts about how quaint and idyllic Orléans is for raising children, mostly from folks with adult children. As someone who grew up in Orléans and is now raising children here, I thought I would share my perspective.

Reflection on Growing Up in Orléans

I was looking through comments on the community association Facebook group, and I wanted to address some comments. There are a number of people who seem to be of my parents’generation who have a vision of a quaint Orléans that was idyllic to raise a family. I thought it would be good to reflect on growing up in the suburbs. Was Orléans in the 80s and 90s indeed a great place to grow up, and, if it was, are the elements that made it so still present today.

Ma troisième et dernière patinoire du jour était celle de Convent Glen - Orleans Wood, où j'ai eu la chance d'assister à l'inauguration des nouvelles bandes par la conseillère Laura Dudas ! J'ai ensuite eu de très bonnes conversations et partagé un chocolat chaud avec les résidents.
