I’ll say it again: every park in #OttCity shoukd have a small building for public services like a washroom, maintenance/caretaker staff; should be able to host community events like this. It doesn’t have to turn a profit (it’s a public service) and our parks would be better maintained if 7/

There were on site caretaker staff to deal with day to day messes, issues, maintenance and care for the grounds. Our city would be cleaner, kinder, and more beautiful if we cared more for the places we build for communities. It’s not hard to do. It just takes will. @jleiper.bsky.social

Still no admission that this rain event might require redesign work so this segment *and others* can handle short extreme rainfalls. This is beyond original contract but is part of having a robust LRT network. Hire a hydrologist for some rainfall / snow melt / freshette studies. #OttPoli

Sidewalks that last 50 yrs are a fucking miracle in this city . This brand new curb section on Richmond rd was just destroyed in the last couple days… #ottawa

In #Ottcity we will spend $ to do a shave and pave, leaving 50y old curbs and sidewalks in place. Then moths or years later we’ll come back and replace 1-2 corners at sidewalks to make them accessible and leave rest alone. Then we’ll repaint lines and a month later rip it all up again.

Tim Tierney hasn’t spent a minute of his life walking through intersections. There’s multiple issues at play here. The data on right on reds is pretty clear. But #ottawa gives no fucks about data. A plan that moves people driving as a priority fundamentally overrides any other plan

Hey councillor Tierney, please focus on actual improvements to transportation in our city rather than suggesting we should be endangering pedestrians so you don't have to wait a couple more seconds at a red. Those right turn on red bans are there for a reason. www.ctvnews.ca/ottawa/artic...

www.ottawalookout.com/p/why-farmer.... PLEASE restore the Market building to be an indoor agricultural market! Easier to maintain security, and can be 12 months a year. “Plante passed a motion, seconded by Osgoode Coun. Isabelle Skalski, to reduce some barriers for farmers…”

Why farmers are leaving the ByWard Market — and how the city hopes to bring them back

As the district has evolved, the presence of farmers has dwindled to just a few permanent produce stalls among the artisans and other businesses.

I would encourage people to get involved in campaigns for upcoming municipal elections. Get out and get active with like-minded neighbours to help shape your local community.

Playing the what bus can I take to escape the smoke tomorrow game. Looks like Bainbridge ferry to Straight Shot to Port Angeles could work or 574 to Intercity Transit to Grays Harbor Transit to Aberdeen are both low smoke destination options. I've had a headache all day, even indoors.
