Rough day, so have a poem about the Jar of Moles in the Grant Zoology Museum in London that everyone has regarded as too thoroughly batshit to publish

Jar of Moles (Grant Zoology Museum, London)
crittery dozened things each pink snout snootling
formaldehyde up it's bamboozler which poor fuck
had to collect them out in the dirt with a shovel
here moley moley BONK . I’m only gonna
put you in a jar and let tourists go eww at you
for the next two hundred years god look at me
for two hundred years I’d do anything look
mummy, one of them’s licking the glass—
honey it's dead velvety sweet sardined hope
their ghosts are friends teeming in a molish
afterlife dark and circular everything worm-
flavoured tasty buggy snackerels what if
you smashed the mole jar? vinegared
moles spilling out flaccid & swimming
everyone screaming someone saying Freddy
you gotta get us a new jar of moles—
—goddammit boss I never asked for any of this
A jar of wet preserved moles, the jar is very full and all the little hands, feet and snoots mark it as both upsetting and fascinating

"Bad" writing has a special place in my heart. I get so much joy from figuring out how all the wonky pieces could fit, how the cracks could be patched. I love being able to pinpoint the place it all went wrong, where theme and story collide instead of elevating eachother...

A few weeks ago, I completed my first 'thing' of 2026 by drawing a tree ! Working for etched plates is always interesting. I've been experimenting with greyscales rather than binary black / white, and had to make a bunch of test swatches for us to pick from. ( Bottom-left was the winner, btw. )

9 versions of the same white-on-black drawing of a tree. Each version shows subtle variations, like the brightness of the background canopy or the gradient on the ground.

Slowly waking from winter slumber, with my first book of the year ! Commissioned French edition of "One Hundred Years of Solitude" by Gabriel García Márquez. Walnut cover with etched brass plates. As usual, the etched illustration on the back cover is human-made by @chaabs.bsky.social !

The book lies on a soft cloth.
The front cover features a large brass plate etched as such : "Gabriel García Márquez", "Cent Ans de Solitude".
The book is held closed by a leather clasp hooked to a nail.

It's 3:45am and I can't sleep ( because I ate too much chocolate yesterday and I feel like running around, ) so now's as good a time as any to look into Unity's Rendergraph !

I have the hardest time getting out of my own way and writing ugly and needed 1st draft words. After two years of work on my novel, I've just realized that this problem disappears if I shift tenses. Present tense for 1st draft, past tense for final prose. Absolute magic. #writingcommunity #amwriting

As the lucky owner of a few of Julien's works, I can be weird about the stuff he's way too humble about. Namely : how soft and smooth the wood covers are. I mean, it's wood?! It shouldn't make me want to take a nap?! And yet! I want to touch them forever! 🥹 ( Also books make great gifts. )

An old wooden table is covered by a mix of items such as old looking books, a pirate treasure map, a spyglass, parchments and rings.
In the middle lies a heavy grimoire with a red spine, black locust cover, and closed by a loop of rope.
