This guy never served. He faked an injury to avoid the draft. None of his children have served. He called those who did serve their country "suckers and losers." He skipped the centenary memorial for servicemen who died in WWI because it was drizzling. This is more than usually repellent.

This is team player shit, beat the bad guys shit. I love it. No fucking around with it, just let's go.
I encourage all of us to have the grace and focus shown in this going up within minutes of the race being called.
Because the Hadestown Proshot did so well at the box office, they extended the run and Laura and I got to see it today. Do yourself a favor and go see it in the theater. One of the most emotional experiences I’ve ever had at the movies. 😭😭😭
So happy that folks are getting to see this!! Laura and I had tickets to see it this evening but we decided to stay home and be with our kids & Laura’s parents before heading to the beach tomorrow. It was the right decision but I really would liked to have seen this one. 😢

can we sometimes be asking "what qualifies this guy to speak on this subject?" or has that ship sailed
And here is the same Alex Jones bullshit appearing in Rolling Stone. Unbelievably embarrassing to publish this.
The conspiracy she’s referring to here is a Slack chat among scientists in 2020 where they went, “it could be a lab leak, let’s look into it!”
This is what "both sides" journalism has wrought. A complete inability for journalists to simply state clear and obvious facts that are supported by reams of research. This is not a debate. There are not two sides. Bike infrastructure and traffic calming make streets safer.
It's not just advocates who say this. Researchers, studies, and data say it. That's why advocates say it. Reporters can just say it, too!
This seems like a good set of predictions but the Senate races have so much upside potential for Dems and yet we should never underestimate the ability of Democratic Senate candidates to screw up fantastically in the final stretch of the campaign. 😫
I still think we end with a D+12 national environment, Dems take the House 228-207, and Dems take the Senate 51-49 before Fetterman makes it 50-50
literally impeach him just for this
“Trump has rejected disaster aid for Democratic-run states at the highest rate in the 47-year history of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.” Right now people in blue states are basically paying federal taxes as if they’re colonized territories of red states. www.politico.com/news/2026/03...
if you’re an immigrant and unemployed, you’re a freeloader, but if you’re gainfully employed, you’re stealing someone’s job. They just don’t want these people to exist except as targets for their hatred one way or the other bsky.app/profile/heba...
My Haitian friend was just fired from his job. "They said I don't have a legal status now." This is likely happening to hundreds of thousands of people across this country today. Sick.
I need to practice what I’d be screaming at someone who does this on my plane. Any good ideas?
Evangelist Whitney Lynn says she preaches on planes because she loves “a captive audience.” She's not alone. It's becoming a trend. If spreading your message requires listeners who can't escape, maybe it's not as compelling as you think. www.friendlyatheist.com/p/christian-...

No one is lying about the Hadestown proshot, folks. It is incredible and, yes, quite possibly the best proshot I’ve seen. Do not miss it. It’s only out for a week, and I don’t know that we know yet if and where it will have a life after this.

NEW: In a stunning admission, the Trump administration admitted in court documents that it canceled billions in energy grants to states "based solely" on politics -- and whether that state was represented by Democrats and backed Harris in 2024. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/24/b...
LAW DORK: Thursday was the worst day for DOJ. So far. DOJ withdrew its subpoenas issued to New York Times reporters, but the hearing that preceded that decision showed just how degraded DOJ has become.

This should be a lightbulb moment for Democrats: You are free to run on this platform because Republicans are going to accuse you of it whether you do or not!
Trump: "The Democrats are gonna terminate the filibuster as soon as they have a chance and then they're gonna approve DC and Puerto Rico as states. They get 4 more senators, 12 more congressmen, like 40 electoral votes ... you don't want to see me cry."
If you met a brand new Chapel Hill resident and they asked you the best way for them to get involved in their new community to best address Chapel Hill’s greatest unmet needs, what would you say? Bonus points for identifying community orgs that are already doing great work to meet these needs.
Good thread, really captures something essential that’s slowly being lost.
an idea's been rolling around in my head about how what we lose with assuming everyone wants "answers" & not search results is similar to what we lose when "route" is the only kind of map we encounter I won't get the academic terms right, but it's some version of skipping an essential abstraction
They're seeing that investing in supply safety monitoring introduces liability without protecting revenue. This is where it would be incumbent on the government to rebalance those incentives by imposing regulatory penalties, but the government we have now is the Trump admin.
The entire industry is seeing right now that it's better for business to keep your mouth shut and ship the contaminated product.
That Taco Bell, after investing in food safety diligence and exposing Taylor Farms as the source of the outbreak, is suffering all the reputational damage Taylor Farms deserves at the hands of the media and government bodes very ill for the future of restaurant food safety.
Really interesting thread. Taco Bell is getting the blame but actually we might still not know where the outbreak came from if it wasn’t for their help:
🎶maybe it will turn out this time🎶 This has been a Carrboro Farmers Market appreciation post.
