I'm really tired of the "this wasn't preventable" dialogue because the driver is said to have had a medical episode. 1) The investigation is still ongoing and the cause hasn't been determined 2) If the 4th Ave intersection was closed, the driver would have been elsewhere with a lot less ped traffic

In the wake of a fatal vehicle crash Aug. 1 on Lower Broadway, members of the Metro Council are considering actions to increase roadway safety in Nashville.

Here is a monthly summary of fatal crashes, and non-fatal pedestrian and bicyclist traffic crashes in Davidson County for July 2026. Robert Powell, Bankole Olupinla, Jaime Magsam, Mikel Holder, Deandera Lovell, Jason Bungarz-Kinney, Madeline Mitchell, and a motorcyclist all lost their lives.

Everyone should be able to walk/bike across the street without fearing for their life. Yet Nashville continues to see pedestrians killed while crossing our roads. No turn on red is a proven step that can help prevent these tragedies. We’ve studied the issue long enough. It’s time to act.

I wasn't crazy with how the Places markers were loading on the map, so I updated how they render to be cleaner. Also, deduping from OSM data wasn't working well for Bus Stops. I went ahead and wired up a GTFS connection to query stops from it instead. Hard refresh plz if you have any goofiness.

two of my friends were hit and injured by drivers in the span of a week in Nashville on roads that either have been waiting on improvements or already have protected infrastructure

Yes, the debate over East Bank Boulevard is still going on. The Metro Planning Commission will soon consider an amendment to the Major and Collector Street Plan that will create the framework for the types of streets we can expect to see in Wasioto Bend. www.nashvillepost.com/politics/met...

I'm looking for someone who has ever been involved in a fatal crash to talk to me for something I'm writing, especially if you were the driver. If that's you, send me a DM? Thanks internet. (Picture of my dog for internet tax.)
