TIL This American Life uses one of my favorite large diaphragm condensers - the Shure KSM 44. Many think the Shure SM7B is the podcast mic of choice, and it's certainly more forgiving for noisy environments or novice audio engineers, but the KSM44 gives more detail and dynamic range.

That total is down 18% compared to July 2025, and is less than half the totals of July 2020 and 2021, which each saw more than 100 killings.
