*Everywhere* used to smell of cigarette smoke. Restaurants are the obvious example that everyone thinks of, but people used to smoke in banks, on buses, airplanes, post offices, movie theaters, and even public schools. Also, it used to be considered normal to drive home completely-ass drunk.

air travel is one of those experiences that has gotten monotonically worse over my entire lifetime

question though: has *anything* in the last 40+ years genuinely gotten *better*?

like, there's *more* stuff, sure, but is any of it *better*?

With the latest numbers from AP news, 11% of votes are uncounted, and Stevens would need to win those by 17% to win. I don't know if that's likely, but that's four times her margin in Wayne County (which is where most remaining votes are), so that's looking good for AES apnews.com/projects/ele...

I was not meant to care about the democratic primary in Michigan or whatever the fuck. I was meant to check movie news sites daily for any news on there ever being an Adventures of Tintin sequel. But these BASTARDS stole that from me

medical care we gave during the two weeks of vigil occupation: cuts scrapes and skin infections medical care we gave during the one day of city reclamation, hours AFTER the turnover: pepper spray flushes but you can drive your car there now so that’s a net win

the events of this morning were honestly pretty calm and normal all things considered; even the arrest looked fairly banal from my spot personally i’m just glad the city cleared the dangerous and unsafe civil gathering so they could have a calm and fun afternoon of pepper spraying passersby

From this morning, when the city cleared the Corey Ruiz encampment. The operation involved several police agencies, and some were arrested. Personal items and some memorials to Ruiz have been moved to Demetral Park. More for @isthmusmadison.bsky.social isthmus.com/news/news/Ma...

Flock’s array of license-plate cameras was built to fight crime. But at least 50 law enforcement officers were charged with or accused of misusing it and other systems.

The SCREEN Act is not just another age-verification bill — it goes much further than anything passed at the state-level or in other countries. 1. The bill doesn't just target porn sites. It goes after *any* site that allows material "harmful" to minors. You'd have to scan your face to use Google.

What can you do? CALL. WRITE. SCREAM. The bill is up for a vote THIS WEDNESDAY. Call your Senator. Dem. Republican. Whomever. Right now, it's a solid R bill, but they're looking for Dems to take it across the finish line. Let them know how badly it stinks. www.defendonlineprivacy.com/screen/

Sounds to me like this is far worse than what she would have NYPD invade Columbia's campus for. When are we going to have the cops come crack down on her?
