Happy to report that Brand New Day passes my most important test for a superhero movie: “does the hero ever actually save anyone?” Yes! The first time is in the opening scene, and it’s a criminal Spider-Man is fighting, but continues throughout
I see a lot of people recognizing this with the new movie, but just to be clear, when it comes to superheroes there is Batman, there is Spider-Man, and then there is everybody else
Extremely real, my 30s have been way more fun than my 20s

Didn’t leave the Eisners with a statue, but I got so overwhelmed when this came up on the big screen I nearly missed the photo. For me, this was the win. Art is a conversation, never a cage match.
