My son's favorite thing to do in Amsterdam is to visit the Huttendorp in the Jeugtland playground. He shows up, they give you a hammer, nails and a saw and off he goes to play around with wood and build something.

Here is a big thank you to the student who wrote in the exam that the DNA is packaged tightly into heterochromatin or loosely into homochromatin. You made my day brighter and full of laughter.

Alois is one of the most dedicated and awesome teachers we have at the Perutz and @univie.ac.at. Every time he teaches his practical course, the students hang on his lips and learn so much. He is a treasure, and I am glad that we could show him some of that appreciation with this award.

I have a love/hate relationship with traveling for work. It is exhausting and takes you away too much from family. But then you have some of these trips that invigorate you and make you realize why you love your job. The conversations with like-minded people, making new friends and getting inspired.

When do lineage biases first emerge in the epiblast? They are detectable before gastrulation, but how this early asymmetry is established has remained unclear. A CRISPRa screen identifies WT1 as an unexpectedly early regulator of formative pluripotency. (1/4)

Today I was asked to talk at a mentoring event for people preparing an application for the ERC. Of course I spend some time on how I prepared for the successful application. However most of the time I spend on the times when it did not work out, grant was rejected.
