I hear similar sentiments with regard to traditional crafts. "I am proud of my skills in xyz, but I wouldn't want my kids doing it". They want their kids to go to uni in the big town. I get it, my father and grandfather left school at 14 and 15, and I am happy not to have a job making bricks

When I started fieldwork, several first-language speakers of Korandje told me they were glad their kids couldn't speak it. Teachers had told them raising their kids in (dialectal) Arabic was the key to letting them succeed in school, and they believed the results bore this out.

A constant question in ethnographic collections ... while researching stone axe/adze types a couple of years ago I found that museum collections of Pacific material consist mostly of large, non-functional, ceremonial axes, omitting the less impressive functional varieties

I know they are pivoting to health care(?!) but there is still nothing like Midjourney for making strange and atmospheric images and short animations in ways no other AI image generator can do. Here are some strange cities I made with similar prompts but very different styles.

still not quite over the fact that i watched 15 year olds get sued for millions of dollars for downloading twelve songs and now we all have to accept AI slop because every tech company in the known universe decided that IP laws don't exist now that they're inconvenient for them
