It’s all “do your own research” and “the government is lying” until your research concludes you gotta wear respirators in defiance of govt recommendations 🤷🏽♀️
Apparently making children eat scolding plastic wasn't abusive enough for David Seymour
So ACT is the party of... Child Abuse??!! www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...
Doing a mandatory census of ethnicity and religion hits different when our major ally is running concentration camps and there's a rising one nation vote
Unpopular Opinion: I would have won Mr Universe if I was ripped
It’s time to push back on EVERY politician that uses the term “cutting red tape”. It’s just revolting propaganda. Can we just say: “Do you mean removing laws that protect people’s lives?” 😡😡😡 #nzpol
In 2020 I wrote to all parties on this topic and radio silence except Labour who passed me on to the Minister for the prevention of family and sexual violence - Greens Marama Davidson, who wrote back, and had a plan, launched Dec ‘21. It’s time to write MPs again👇 www.instagram.com/reel/DbIBkpd...
Lovely sentiment, sadly untrue. So much wrong with our elections - no time off to vote, massive lines many places, districts drawn by politicians picking their voters, electoral college, urban folks having so much less say than rural (Senate), massive $ in politics./1
There's nothing wrong with our elections, but there is something wrong with Donald Trump.
Conservatives: remember when times were better? Greens: you mean when we had strong unions? Conservatives: 😠
Incredibly negative framing here, there's a reason we're at the bottom of the wage growth chart and our conditions are worse Vote for change✊🏻 #nzpol
"dealing with"
Under Luxon's New Zealand, Working Kiwis STILL can't afford the basics. Who gets punished while Aotearoa's economy suffers? One class would receive fines and incarceration. The other would receive bail outs, tax cuts, and the justification to infringe on your privacy rights. #nzpol
Repeat after me: the adults are just as bad or worse with social media and phones. Stop pretending the attention hijacking machine only targets kids
The ACT leader is proposing prohibiting the purchase, possession and supply of smartphones to minors or having the Government issue clear guidance that recommended phones suitable for children.
"Minister misrepresents Greens" - evergreen headline Like, they wouldn't defeat the Greens by being honest about their policies, would they?
"[Simeon Brown] has suggested hundreds of thousands of Kiwis will pay nearly half their income in tax under the Green Party's tax policy, but that's misleading." NZ National minister misrepresents Greens' income tax policy www.aap.com.au/factcheck/nz... via @aapfactcheck.bsky.social #nzpol
People: "I just want to turn my oven on" Oven makers: "ok, but what if instead, every time the power is disconnected, it does nothing but flash a clock at you until you set the time, using only two buttons, on a display that is so small you will never ever use it to tell the time?"
And I suppose after the 3rd strike they're deported to the colonies?
If a hungry person is convicted three times for stealing food, NZ's ACT Party want to lock them in prison at a cost to taxpayers of $200,000 a year! It'd be cheaper to buy them food! How much of our money does ACT want to waste on punishing poor folk? 🙄 #NZpol www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...
Yeah we know, the last two years of you half assing it and letting fringe parties run the show kind of gave it away
Don’t then?
I remember when Singapore's first PM, LKY, passed away and people lined the streets to pay their respects. People overseas could not comprehend it. They thought it had to be staged. But it was real. Scores of memorial services were crowded all over the city state. www.aljazeera.com/news/liveblo...

I mean, if his office can't use the IT systems effectively, maybe they should try firing Luxon and his team and replacing them with AI
“Allen was told by Burgess it was "well documented" that the Department of Internal Affairs' (DIA) IT systems are "inadequate to deal with many files," and that contributed to the use of the personal email address for government business.” Not a valid s17 defence. www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...
Can it really be called "intelligence" when its as obvious as the answer to "is the pope catholic?"
this is the biggest clown show in history.
Shout this from the rooftops.
Hi RNZ and the rest of NZ Media - please could you spend your time actually focusing on the politicians who are responsible for cold, damp, miserable homes and refuse to regulate the food and power oligarchies, instead of gleefully putting out these stupid articles like clockwork every year. #nzpol
Wait, so after showing people how much oil reliance sucks, the Trump admin is trashing the beef industry? I need to sit down
Look, 600k is a lot for a website that apparently doesn't even connect to the catalogue. But what this investigation will never discover is all the ways that ongoing public service cuts *increase* government waste 🧵
“Look, you can do a good website on AI in 20 minutes and you’re not paying 600,000 bucks for it, so that’s what horrifies me.” Besides being evidently incorrect, it is concerning to see Labour politicians devaluing workers to such an extent.
The gbm and I are discussing the RNZ article about being a neurodivergent mother and how it’s hard and how we need to rebuild the village and then the gbm comes out with this banger: “The whole point of capitalism is to break the villages.” THE WHOLE POINT OF CAPITALISM IS TO BREAK THE VILLAGES 🫢
Who's she battling with? Who's been in charge of the budget for the last 3 years?
The fact that Nyong’o’s beauty is causing a war between two rival cultures in America right now is proof enough that she is the perfect Helen of Troy.
This is exactly why they hate it. Allowing young people to reflect and choose their own path in life is poisonous to an economic ideology built on grinding workers into paste
Honestly what Stanford describes as “gaming the system” is one of the things that, in my experience, makes NCEA good preparation for adult life. Working out how to balance what is required of you with how to get what you want/need out of a situation is what most of life is about.
A small project that I'm excited to share. Watching marginalised groups' contributions get erased from public memory, I've been thinking about places we can keep their stories alive. #DiversityInTech mosaic-code-coop.github.io/test-data-ap...

It's high time we recognised that there are a variety of ways that people contribute to society and all of them deserve to be housed and fed regardless
There is a whole lot to unpack in this RNZ piece.
I know there are a dizzying number of layers upon layers of inequity in the Everlee Wihongi story But can I also gesture in the direction of white, sitting MPs who have admitted to "trying" drugs and don't have a criminal record
Are we now expected to declare EVERYTHING that may be considered a criminal offence anywhere in the world? Everlee Wihongi is supposedly being held by US immigration because she didn't declare a previous conviction for possession of marijuana in New Zealand. A declaration that was not required.
