Really interesting fracture morphology to this zircon (from an Archean shear zone in s. Ontario's Superior Craton). It looks positively dilated in the brittle realm: onion skin style sheeting along growth bands and then further blown apart along those new intracrystal mechanical discontinuities. ⚒️

this is how i've been feeling in the studio lately with regards to learning how to make prints (intaglio etching + watercolor monotypes so far) touche on a litho stone comes next...
I'm weirdly finding that as I get older, it's easier to learn new skills, which is the opposite of what I thought was supposed to happen. I don't think we're giving enough credit to a lifetime of built skills. When new skills have overlap w/existing ones it greases the wheels for the new.
nice evening for a ride through the city 🚴♀️🗽
Oh my god the dietician who is telling everyone in the White House to only eat steak and sauerkraut doesn't wipe his ass.

Trump on daylight savings time:
'You'll choke too' - an aerial embroidery landscape inspired by all the wildfires happening right now... I'm upset every time I smell smoke outside and somehow we have people starting them maliciously too! But we all breathe the same air so they'll choke too (1/2 - see thread for close-ups)
Brice Marden oil paintings on marble, which he first started making on the Greek island of Hydra between 1983–87 and then again in 2011
"Are you wearing the—" "The airbrushed T-shirt version of the 1974 artwork Lynda Benglis ran as an ad in Artforum printed as an almost unrecognizably ethereal palimpsest on a sheer, beaded, short-sleeved dress in the Dior Haute Couture F/W 26-27 collection? Yeah, yeah I am." greg.org/archive/2026...

I have, with my own eyes, watched my tax dollars in the form of missiles as they hit buildings inhabited by civilians. I'd much prefer subsidizing a grocery story I don't use.
Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.
I did another Substack. It's called Imperialist Realism, & it's a collaboration with U of Washington historian and @amprestigepod.bsky.social co-host Daniel Bessner. We're soft-launching today with a post about the connections between empire, the Pacific Northwest & Kurt Cobain. Check it out!

When Uber Eats and DoorDash hid the tip button, delivery workers paid the price. Tips fell by 79%. In January, we changed that. Since then, more than $104 million has gone back into the pockets of the delivery workers who keep New York City fed.

this is not true. there was no conspiracy. it didn't matter whether the streetcars were publicly owned (seattle, detroit) or private (los angeles, atlanta). a thread (because i wrote a whole-ass book on this): 1/?
Is everyone aware of the General Motors streetcar conspiracy? In the mid-20th century, auto and oil interests bought up electric streetcar systems across the US and systematically replaced them with bus routes and paved roads, funneling commuters toward private cars.
