Cori Bush, who I‘m a huge fan of, is a much better activist than a legislator and likely would have lost regardless, but it shouldn’t be ignored that she was literally outspent 27 to 1.

Will Wilkinson@wlknsn.xyz · 4h agoMy take on boots discourse is that we face a lemons problem with many consumer goods, given the acquisition of many storied brands by companies aggressively milking accumulated brand equity for higher profits, such that price and reputation for durability does not reliably predict higher roi.
This is an astounding loss for the US if it comes to fruition. One of the biggest strategic losses the US has ever endured—perhaps biggest?—and all from a war the US chose to start for no reason, illegally.

This would close off the path outside Iranian waters the US encouraged ships to use during the MOU, then started bombing again to keep open.

as noted yesterday, Trump has now come around to treating an Iranian toll system covering the Strait of Hormuz as a given. Hard to overstate the level of strategic failure. US started the war purely as a war of choice and ends up dramatically empowering Iran and given the Iranian govt big wins.

"Making fees voluntary, at least nominally, could be a way out of the impasse, although an implied threat of Iranian attacks could mean shippers would be unlikely to risk transit without paying."
Honestly, at this point, Democrats should be thrilled with this -- Miller has set himself on fire and if the GOP wants to hold him close, so be it.

Let's all sit with the fact that the president wants to jail some random person who is self-evidently innocent. It's not surprising, but it's amazing that much of the media is almost completely disinterested in this fact.

No surprise. Republicans need just one vote out of Cassidy, Murkowski, and Collins to move this. And, it's a good bet that Cassidy or Murkowski will provide it (heck if they were in big trouble, they'd get Fetterman to do it too). It's kabuki but hill reporters are hype her as being "moderate."
