There are ways to trim your videogame development budget, and then there are *ways* to trim your videogame development budget.

Hello #PortfolioDay! I'm a 3D animator with 5 years experience looking for work! ✉️ lindseywailes@gmail.com 🔗 vimeo.com/1082323434
Hey, so, I was so angry today that, for once, I blogged it instead of posting about it. Games media, especially mainstream games media, cannot keep abdicating responsibility in how it talks about these things an-evening-at-the-inn.ghost.io/video-game-s...
Video Game Studios Aren't Monoliths
I'm just going to come right out and say it this time - treating video game studios like some kind of fantasy football draft, in the wake of mass layoffs no less, is sickening. The last three years, ...

Hi again! New week, new looking for work post. I am in desperate need of full time work. Looking for animation, art, administrative or other things outside of the games industry. My email is lindseywailes@gmail.com or DM me on here! Feel free to reach out just to chat as well :) Thank you!!! ❤️
Hey everyone! I wanted to update my pinned post. ✨I have 5 years experience as an animator in the games industry. 🎨Looking for Animation, Concept Art, QA, Administrative, and other similar roles. 💼 Open to Remote or anywhere on the West Coast of the US. Thank you! #animator #animation
I guess I'm watching The Dish tonight, RIP to a true Aussie icon, up there with pavlova and Phar Lap
"Verify your age" I was excited when we got a TV with a remote control and I didn't have to get up to change the channel or adjust the volume any more
"Verify your age" I could get more channels on my TV if I tweaked the antenna just right
User discovery is still pretty awful here, but it looks like search is *finally* showing results for keywords in people's bios - I just discovered a ton of animator accounts I hadn't seen before by searching for things like "senior animator", "gameplay animator" etc.
I just had a peek at twitter - the main feed is still insane but in my old lists there are a bunch of people happily posting away with their animation like nothing has changed I don't want to go back there but I really miss my feed being full of animators, I wish we were all on one site again 😢
Grieving for colleagues who lost their jobs today. This sucks.
I've realised two things watching the world cup with my family: 1. I have a habit of thinking aloud and asking a lot of rhetorical questions when I watch sport 2. My son doesn't understand what rhetorical questions are
I must admit I hate having to swap discs or cartridges to change games, and find digital copies so much easier 👉👈 But I still think physical copies of games are super important and I want people to be able to buy them, also we should absolutely own the games we buy, physical or otherwise
Given everything, now is probably a good time in games to figure out how to get a Non-Contract Violating TM representation of your current work for your own future portfolios. I am explicitly not suggesting you break laws or contracts. but think about what you can reasonably do.
To be clear, the market being older and younger people not taking their place *is* a five-alarm fire that no one is noticing.
Checking emails, news, slack, bluesky every morning to see if the Xbox layoffs have started overnight

I dunno man, I feel like if you're a platform holder that is being criticized for not having very many appealing games to support your platform, closing down studios making interesting games for your platform or cancelling their projects might be a move people won't respond well to.
This is a lost art. First place I worked had 4 teams working on different games, and a dedicated pitch team just laying track in the form of new projects. Used to be doable at 200 people. Indies being so small and AAA going all in on big projects has largely nuked it. It’s a shame.
You know what Nintendo does when they have a surplus set of devs from cancellations or production ending? Put them on other projects. The ability to redeploy headcount while keeping teams together over time is like, the main strategic benefit of scale in the game industry
Thinking of all of the folks at Bungie today, what a massive waste and complete failure of leadership
It's very unfortunate that politicians fall precisely into the demographic that is least likely to understand the implications of genAI, they're the perfect targets for these ghouls
