This is great advice that I should take more often. Creativity was reflex for me long before it was a skill, and it's always nice to exercise that muscle without specific direction.

After talking to a young writer last night, I want to remind you all that it's okay to write without an assignment or goal. Write to explore a new technique, get an idea out of your head, or as emotional exhalation. Write for the raw joy of it. For you alone. It doesn't need to go into a portfolio

A little over a year ago, I proposed to Alyssa with a custom Wingspan box designed by @itshugosnook.bsky.social. Yesterday, we took it to Gen Con to show to Wingspan creator @elizhargrave.bsky.social, who signed it for us!

I proposed to Alyssa today and she said yes! Shout out to @itshugosnook.bsky.social for designing this fantastic Wingspan parody! It’s her favorite board game, and I MAY have lied and told her I was expecting a review copy for a new expansion in the mail. She doesn’t seem too mad about it.
