“Be a good boy for Jesus” is not what I expected to hear on Market st this weekend
Very disappointing from the new Prime Minister, very much sounding like the previous PM. These are among the world’s most vulnerable and desparate people. They need safe routes and humanity from responsible politicians, not grandstanding. This isn’t doing politics differently.
if you think using an LLM is better than a standard search engine or a trip to the library I genuinely think you're too stupid to know you're stupid also you're proofreading something that's causing climate collapse. are the data centers stealing water and making noise torture really worth it?
So, ok, a thing about telling yr audience "i use AI for my info gathering/research but then I look over it and fix any errors" is that you unfortunately told me youve outsourced your knowledge base on this subject to the machine, and therefore I have no reason to believe you CAN catch those errors
I want people to understand the full impact of the devastation that First Nations in Canada are facing. It's NOT just that people and wildlife are losing their homes...it's the history that is being lost for generations to come.
It is remarkable how quickly we’ve moved from a position where “GC” beliefs were seen as fringe beliefs which were debatable if they were “worthy of respect in a democratic society” to a place where you are publicly censured if you don’t share them, and the press is absolutely complicit.
The Times, first with the news, has discovered a report from May, though they leave out how it showed the Times itself is leading in its war on trans people.

Head of the EHRC really did just say Phrenology will help solve the issue of transgenders in society
And even if we take this “correctly sexing people on sight“ seriously, which we should not, a 2-4% false positive rate over millions of people is a Huge number innit, we’re talking hundreds of thousands the EHRC head here is setting up to be judged trespassers for going to the “correct“ loo
We shouldn't start caring only, and suddenly, when it's an 'elite' research-intensive university. Like climate change we needed to start caring a long time ago and there's no better time to start than now.

First it was just humanities courses being cut (and 40 of us at risk), and now this news… My university, everyone:
The University of Hertfordshire is looking to cut £20 million from its budget, impacting 200 jobs, saying it has to go further because of the “scale of the challenge” it faces
Just heard about the 200 redundancies announced by my previous employer, the University of Exeter. 170 of those are in Humanities and Social Sciences. This is what happens in a country with the collapsing HE funding system with VCs-cum-CEOs on £300k salaries+bonuses and corporate governing bodies.
💢BREAKING | Israel has carried out a double-tap strike in Gaza, killing Raghad Ashour, an 18-year-old student from Beit Hanoun who was on her way to take her general secondary education examination per Mosab Abu Toha (X: @MosabAbuToha). Saw this shared on FB. Murphy is a deluded clown if she has to tell anyone who supports trans rights, to stay away from her concerts. The next one is due to be held in 'who gives a fuck where'.

When utilized in literature review, LLMs consistently 1. fail to mention female authors in female-led literatures, 2. insist that men are more influential or more heavily cited when this is contradicted by objective citation counts, and 3. attribute women’s work to hallucinated male scholars.
