Trekkie and science nerd. Big fan of Star Trek: Lower Decks, Star Trek: Prodigy, and Star Trek: Voyager, but love all Trek.

Prodigy was incorrectly written off as a “kids show” when it was really great Star Trek that’s extremely appealing and satisfy for adults that you can also watch with your kids.
Agreed. Im also gonna throw Star Trek Prodigy in this mix. It was written off almost immediately as a "kids show" but, and im gonna keep banging this drum, it's first season is a goddamn storytelling masterpiece. It encompasses the core values of both Starfleet & Star Trek at large.

I think this is what Lower Decks gave us. Yes, it was set in the TNG era and had loads of cameos and callbacks, but behind that, there was a highly original show with its own voice, its own lore, and its own unique spin. Like DS9, LDS has its own vision of what Trek can be, which is why both endure.
This is a fresh hot take I'm workshopping, but it occurs to me that Lower Decks may be the best because it embraced what it was fully. It didn't just make references, it was jam-packed with high quality deep cuts, satisfying cameos and a clear love of Star Trek.
