Like clockwork, the beagle wiggles under the fence after his owner leaves in the morning. He sleeps at Alex’s feet, steals bites of his food & makes Alex smile endlessly. In the evenings, the sound of the neighbors car into the driveway spurs the dog back under the fence, gone until the next day.

Alex leaves his high-powered, stressful life in the city and buys a home in the suburbs. He spends his days working from home for a nonprofit, grilling, swimming laps in the pool, & reading in the hammock. It’s quiet and slow in the best way. Yet he’s rarely alone thanks to the dog next door… 1/2

the thought of “taking away kudos” to me is a bit unserious because unless the author somehow kicked my grandma irl in the middle of the fic i don’t really care that they have my kudos even if by the end i didn’t enjoy the fic that much
