The State Department said it takes "full responsibility" for "hastily" altering and then presenting a map of Africa at a global AIDS conference that mislabeled every single country it highlighted. An analysis by Reuters found a watermark in the map image that suggests it was made with OpenAI.

It was, in accelerated fashion, a parallel to how living through climate change is making Republicans far worse on emissions & pollution.
The Fauci hearing perfectly illustrated how living through a once in a century pandemic somehow made Republicans far worse on public health. God forbid we face anything like covid again during Trump 2.0. There will be no Dr Fauci around to try to talk sense to Trump.
I'd love it if a reporter in Rep. Emmer's or Rep. Rulli's district showed them how their own rhetoric about Somali and Haitian immigrants today is almost verbatim the rhetoric that an earlier generation of racist nativists spewed against their own German and Italian ancestors.
In recent weeks, congressmen like Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN) and Rep. Michael Rulli (R-OH) have leveled racist attacks against immigrant communities in their districts. As I note in CAMPAIGN TRAILS, a century ago those same racist attacks were being made against people named Emmer and Rulli.

NASDAQ basically force-loaded about $25 billion of SpaceX stock into passive investor portfolios (aka, people's pension and retirement funds) by jamming SpaceX into its index right at IPO time rather than waiting the standard 30-60 days. Billions of dollars of unrealized losses already.

My prediction for how this will play out: Most colleges will doubledown on AI even as employers realize their graduates know next to nothing. Elite colleges will market themselves as being non-AI. Not using AI will be a bespoke luxury commodity that's highly sought after.
