Boston- based purveyor of bespoke pop songs often distracted by the need to leap about on stage in a most unseemly manner. https://corinashley.bandcamp.com/track/empathy-centre

I’m pretty psyched about this new partscaster I put together with my buddy Stan Day. Body from Japan, neck from a Fender Baja and Lollar pickups (firebird in the neck) w/ a 4 way switch. This one is for gigs in posh venues. Tuxedo gigs.

It’s a bit of a shame when the 21st night of September falls on a weekday. That’s the date when wedding musicians get a 4th asparagus stalk along with their unseasoned chicken breast and 3 russet potatoes. It’s a waste of special vendor meal privileges if it’s on a Monday.

Songwriting tip; if you’re procrastinating on finishing a tune that you know is solid, accept an offer to record it to 2” tape in front of a recording class in 72 hours. I sat down and finished it in 2 hours today. Now I have two days to edit, refine and learn how to sing it. To tape, for real.

Katie Phang on a Russian oligarch bankrolling Don Jr.’s wedding: “They’re so dumb, we see it happening in real time. But because there’s no consequence or accountability, they just do it in the wide open.”

The part where I pretended I wasn’t going to pay that kind of money to see Rush tonight was good, but I folded. Wife asked me how much I paid for my really good seat and I replied with how reasonable Cheap Trick tickets were for Wednesday. It didn’t distract or confuse her, of course.

There have been so many impeachable offenses, but lying about how you were a hero on a day that 2,753 people died in NYC in the 9/11 disaster—when you were on the other side of town, safely calling local media to brag about how you now had the tallest downtown building—is such a despicable one

I just saw my pal Aaron Tap play with Colin Blunstone of the Zombies and there is absolutely no logical explanation for how wonderful Colin’s voice sound at 81 years old. He didn’t play “Caroline Goodbye”, which is one of the best records ever, but it was a great set.

I’m enjoying the Fender Telecaster 75th Anniversary video on YouTube. Many great bits, but I note that Vince Gill rips like a beast and J. Mascis gets an absolutely unreal lead tone.

August 12, 1970 – Janis Joplin performs what will be her final concert at Harvard University, ending with a version of Gershwin’s “Summertime.” Joplin dies on October 4 and her final album, Pearl, is released posthumously in January 1971.

Do you all often have that thing where it’s like “broheem, I am trying to take you seriously, but throw me a bone here”? If so, you may be entitled to compensation for having family members who are still Trump supporters.

Yesterday at the dog park, a woman told me, apropos of nothing, that her dog was on painkillers. I replied that I was as well, but only recreationally. An awkward silence followed. Nice doggy, though.

Got into the car to go to kickboxing this morning and “Heart Of The Country” from Paul McCartney’s first solo album came on and it’s a beautiful Summer day and all that is a total vibe.

I mean, it’s not like anyone has asked me. If someone were to ask me “In all of YouTube, Corin, what clip would you recommend to someone looking for something fabulous to reenforce their faith in humanity?” I would feel conflicted by options, but probably say “Curb, Best of Leon”. 100% killer.

Upon further and continued viewing, I deem David Bowie’s Glastonbury appearance from the early 2000’s to be quite compelling. Some of the tempos detract from the musicality, but the overall performance is excellent and his voice is 100% fab. Also, the hair is magnificent.
