Because it apparently needs to be said: I have never fucking used the AI/LLM/chatbot/plagiarism machine and I never fucking will. If you use it, I think you're a bad person.

I’m not sure what rock you have to live under to think people haven‘t been screaming about our First Nations not having clean water for ages now.
So apparently that HWA pro-AI newsletter also uses Indigenous water rights issues as a prop, trivializing the activism by Indigenous peoples to protect our water including specific anti-data centre actions. I guess they figured why not alienate Indigenous horror writers while they’re at it?

It’s been a hard day. But just got an email from a teacher saying one of his students started the year basically anti-reading. Hated all the assigned readings through the year. He had to analyze some fiction for his final and chose 2 of mine and loved them. Guys, I think I made a new reader. 🥹

Ok everyone’s talking about the obvious after that Wicker trailer, but can I just say how great it is to see that the female romantic lead in this movie is a woman in her 50s. I love this for us. ❤️

True story. I encourage you to ask your local library to carry any of my books. Do it right now! I’ll wait. 🙂
Every writer I know, and for my sins I know a lot of them, is absolutely 100% delighted for you to get their book out from your local library.
I was literally thinking the same lately. My newsletter has had a "story behind the story" section for years. My books have story notes. I enjoy that and my readers seem to too, but I'd hate for that to be a requirement.
I'm one of those authors who enjoys talking about my stories, why I made certain choices, what ideas I was going for, etc. (its why all my short story collections include authors notes) But I'd hate if that became the default expectation for most writers because of concerns around AI nonsense.

Thank you @alankdell.bsky.social for the wonderful review of THE ASTRONAUT AMONG THE FLOWERS. Alan really nailed everything I was going for with these stories. Read the review below and pre-order the book here: www.starsandsabers.com/books/the-as...

Btw this is the story I withdrew from Analog after 7 months of negotiations. Thrilled to finally see it published, as I’m so proud of this one. But why take my word for it? Take it from the man himself, while he was still trying to convince me to sign his contract (at least we agreed on one thing):
