I hope we can all agree that broadly supporting artists we love is not meant to be transactional. I don’t expect artists to share everything they make. I don’t expect daily output. I don’t expect them to only make work I care about. I don’t think I am their employer who is owed something.

I was just talking to a friend today about Dolly Parton's Imagination Library - new books every month, totally for free, for kids ages 1-5. My son was part of the program - this is a copy of the letter that came with his last book, right after his 5th birthday.

If you're making the leap from digital to traditional painting, I HIGHLY recommend dedicating time to doing color-mixing exercises. I did not do that. The result was that I spent about 18 months feeling quite stressed while I was learning on the job. Your work will go MUCH faster, too.

It's way past time that mentioning the artist when promoting books, physical media, film posters etc. should be the norm. With slop everywhere, let ppl know you hired an artist! This is good marketing, you look good because of it. Which is why it feels suspicious when ppl don't do this
