The UK from the late 90s to the mid 10s was the closest thing to a serious competitor to Japan in soft power. Dr. Who, Harry Potter, Sherlock, Anglophilia, British flags in fashion. All of it powered through the economic power of the City of London and New Labour's managenent. It feels so distant.
