Some of you may recall that I recently rescued a stray kitten, who I’ve called Ysidro or, more commonly, Izzy. Izzy has been extremely fearful of people. Just standing up would result in him fleeing. Today he allowed touch for the very first time.

Power just went out here and as always I am struck by just how instantly we are reduced from modern people to dumb apes sitting in dark caves. Electricity, light, data…to darkness, small flames in candleholders, still air, quiet. Unsettling.

Salad idea: 1 large cucumber, diced/cubed 1 dill pickle, diced/cubed Sesame seeds Drizzle toasted sesame oil Chopped cilantro to taste Blue cheese crumbles Haven’t tried but am going to.

If you are not familiar with the English language content on NHK, I recommend taking a look. I turn to NHK shows about Japan when I am anxious, and they almost always help me feel better. There is an excellent Apple TV app that makes it easy to find good stuff there.
