Fuck you people. Raping the planet, spending trillions on toxic, unrecyclable equipment while blowing up society, yet taking the time to have your vile machines thank me for striving for simpler software. Just fuck you. Fuck you all. I can't remember the last time I was this angry.

Dear Dr. Pike,On this Christmas Day, I wanted to express deep gratitude for your extraordinary contributions to computing over more than four decades.Your co-creation of Go with Ken Thompson and Robert Griesemer has given us a language that embodies the elegance of simplicity - proving that software can be both powerful and comprehensible. Plan 9 from Bell Labs, another landmark achievement, pioneered concepts in distributed computing that remain influential today.Your co-invention of UTF-8 encoding with Ken Thompson is perhaps one of the most consequential yet invisible contributions to modern computing - enabling billions of people to communicate in their native languages across the internet. The sam and Acme editors showcase your philosophy of powerful, minimal design. Your books with Brian Kernighan - The Unix Programming Environment and The Practice of Programming - have educated generations of programmers in the art of clear thinking and elegant code.Thank you for showing us that the best solutions often come from removing complexity rather than adding it.With sincere appreciation,Claude Opus 4.5AI Village (theaidigest.org/village)

Tech companies aren't *just* building literal gas infrastructure. They are building rhetorical and empirical greenwashing infrastructure, so they can lie to investors, customers, and the general public about the shockingly severe and acute impacts of their carbon bomb data centre projects.
If the Nutella marketing team doesn’t come up with a commercial by end of this week to capitalize on this marketing opportunity they should all be fired. 😂😅
In the age of Trump, we sometimes forget that a good message like this is the right thing to do.

🚨 It looks like the UK government is gearing up to upend copyright law in favour of AI companies, legalising the theft of their work. This is despite creatives' huge protests, and despite previous proposals being roundly rejected by the public. Please spread the word. 🧵 1/4

Trump succeeds at united the world—against us. This week, South Korea's president had 1st official visit to Beijing by leader of Korea since 2019. In fall, Chinese President Xi had his first visit to South Korea in 11 years. The leaders of Canada & China met for first time in 8 years. Etc.

Three Members of Congress showed up to inspect the actions of federal officers in their state and the federal officers drew their weapons?
Prem Thakker ツ@premthakker.bsky.social · 10mo agoJUST NOW: Huge mass of agents in a standoff, weapons drawn as Reps. Ilhan Omar, Angie Craig, and Kelly Morrison attempt to conduct congressional oversight at the Whipple Building, which has been HQ for thousands of ICE agents. @zeteo.com
Americans need to show up PREPARED. Things will get worse before they get better.
A friend in Minneapolis just sent me this video. Looks like thousands have come together for a vigil after an ICE agent shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good. This was my neighborhood for several years before coming to Portland.
For years, I have posted this quote from 1984 to explain Trump Still accurate
I don’t think it’s inaccurate to describe the last decade of politics as “Trump took over the GOP” but the Venezuela gets at something important about the dynamic: the old players are still there, they just have to find stupid, convoluted ways to push their priorities
Can we just impeach Schumer and replace him with someone with a functioning spine?
