Those of you eager to serve wealthy MLB owners as volunteer Pinkertons won’t like to read this, but as usual Joe Sheehan nails the real problem:
they also don't understand the dichotomy between mental health (something about which we all have to care) and mental illness (which requires intervention across different modalities, e.g. meds, psychotherapy, and skills-based therapy)
so many people also fundamentally misunderstand both the mechanism and the reality of psychiatric suffering. they think it's just being sad or anxious because of definable triggers. they don't understand the feeling of being in total freefall in ways that are beyond their control
the Red Sox could’ve kept Betts. Freeman wanted to stay in Atlanta more than anything and they passed. Machado didn’t stay. It’s not impossible for other teams to keep and sign these sorts of guys.
the genuine, correct answer to the question of "what to do about the Dodgers" is "git gud" but nobody wants to hear that plenty of owners have the money to throw big contracts at stars but they're too cheap (also the dodgers are elite at scouting and talent development, unrelated to payroll)
This deal is brought you by the Dodgers being good at acquisition and dev. No changes to the CBA is doing anything about that.
It’s unpopular to say this but my problem is far more with 29 other teams who absolutely could do more but let the Dodgers throw cash and picks around like it’s nothing.
was wandering around the neighborhood like I do and stumbled upon a sound check for a lil concert, so I decided to head back for the show itself cuz I had nothing else going on. Really nice indie folk singer songwriter vibes! love chill local art
haha oh my god. Two outs, two strikes, down three. It's like the most extreme scenario that you script when you're playing in the yard or whatever
WALK OFF GRAND SLAM Kody Clemens (19) 407 ft (27°, 104.7 mph) off Matt Strahm (82.7 mph Slider, 2684 rpm) KC 3-MIN 4 (B9, 0-2, 2 outs) https://www.mlb.com/video/kody-clemens-hits-a-grand-slam-19-to-right-center-field-ryan-jeffers-scor-dysd0f
The 2026 Twins: weird. Maybe sorta good? And fun get some bullpen help at the deadline tho pls
Listening to the new Charli album and hoo boy I do not think this is for me. or particularly good I liked brat but she's so far up her own ass on this album lol. I'm quickly tiring of the whole post-post-post-irony talk singing bullshit she's on
you may not like it but this is what peak performance looks like
in retrospect it was a good warning sign for my eventual neurodivergence diagnoses that watching America's Funniest Home Videos as a kid made me cry because I had too much secondhand empathy whenever someone got hurt
“The famine is over! The curse be damned!! Hit the nuclear button! Mayo have won the All-Ireland!!” An all-time great sports commentary moment from Stephen Grealis and Martin McHugh on Mayo’s Midwest Radio. #gaa
thinking again about the scenario in my head the other day where some furry with a decent amount of money makes an FVN and it's like 98% royalty free or commissioned music but then they shell out the licensing fees for exactly one out-of-nowhere needle drop at like the climactic scene of the novel
Good name alert: fella named Nathan Mountain just won the men's 3000m steeplechase at the US outdoor track and field championships
