Brazil proves you can beat fascism without cowardly appeasing their every wish. Keir Starmer/Andy Burnham look weak, cowardly, ineffective. You beat fascists by squaring up to them and smashing them in the face, not meekly cowering behind appeasement. Andy Burnham is a snivelling coward.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

A couple of big Starmer chicken came home to roost this week. First, a huge increase in domestic abuse despite his pledge to halve it in a decade. Now we find his much promoted and trumpeted control measures for social media haven’t changed a thing since their introduction.

Landmark online safety measures have failed to limit the proportion of children suffering harm from social media, the UK’s online regulator has admitted, in an assessment branded “staggering” by campaigners.

The proportion of children being fed unsafe content that often left them frightened, confused and upset, was almost unchanged, according to an Ofcom review of the first nine months of supposedly strict requirements on social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

In July 2024, Starmer pledged to “halve” VAWG in a decade. Jess Phillips said he was “obsessed” with ending it. Today, two years later, the number of people experiencing domestic abuse is up 7.8% on last year.

Today's decision by Labour to approve new drilling in the North Sea is climate vandalism. It's a betrayal of all of our futures, and Labour has abandoned all credibility in the fight against climate change. This is a victory for Shell over the people. www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cw...

UK government approves Jackdaw gas field, and says production will start this month - follow live

Activists say approving the gas field will raise carbon emissions - while the developers argue it is important for the UK’s energy security.

"3 year old Mariam Ahmed Ghanem is now being treated in hospital after suffering second degree burns. Both her mother & father have been killed in the war. There have been near daily attacks.." Meanwhile the UK media pretends a motion declaring zionism is racism is the problem

Spain would welcome us back. Pedro Sánchez described the UK’s departure from the EU as a loss for both British people and the wider European project. If the UK sought to return, he said Spain would applaud the decision and welcome us with open arms.

Here's the short answer. Social Care would be affordable if it was Nationalised. So would Energy. And Water. And Housing. And so on. The problem, no profit for billionaires. But that would be THEIR problem.

I have a meeting tomorrow to discuss "unprofessional language" in customer communications (I effectively told a customer they were being unreasonable in firm words), so am on best behaviour with customer comms right now. And of course the universe took that as a challenge and is really testing me

Google finally updated some of its satellite images of Gaza and my god, it's horrific. The entirety of Rafah has been demolished. The majority of Khan Younis is in ruins. Entire towns completely leveled and erased of the map.
