#WyrdWednesday The Celtic Dutch had a ritual as you left a house or a field was abandoned: You broke shards of pottery and buried them in a specific pit to say goodbye usually coinsiding with harvest I *still* find broken pottery in my garden of random shards. The practice is alive even today.
When the final stalks were cut, the hare darting away was seen not just as an animal fleeing a harvester, but as the literal embodiment of the harvest spirit escaping into the wild. #WyrdWednesday #Folklore
'The Mowing-Devil', printed in 1678. It recounts, as fact, an alleged incident in #Hertfordshire. A farmer saw a fiery light over his oat field one night, and then found it had been mysteriously mowed. The illustration encouraged some to believe it depicts the first Crop Circle. #WyrdWednesday
"The Windcats run in the corn, the weathercats are in there" was a Northern German saying when strong winds shook the fields - and the cats were said to take children who came picking cornflowers. 🎨 Maggie Vandewalle #WyrdWednesday

#WyrdWednesday Children of the Corn by Stephen King (1977) tells a tale of a remote town in the Nebraskan corn fields ruled by an evil entity called He Who Walks Behind Rows. Everyone is killed on their 19th birthday and a married couple who chance upon the town are ritually sacrificed.
#WyrdWednesday Eastern European harvest spirit Poludnica - Lady Midday, who "died in the fields under the noonday sun" - arrives as a cloud of dust carrying a scythe. An inability to answer the riddle she sets results in violent death ... 🎨Destrukcja88 [DeviantArt] 📷in Miletin ©dahliafyodorovna

This isn't surprising because, in spite of how hard they're trying to push us to become dependent on AI, most of us are rejecting it. I can't wait until it all collapses on these terrible companies & they're blasted into oblivion.

Just come out of a screening of The Odyssey and, while I did enjoy it and it's very, very impressive, I kinda feel it's a film I don't want to watch again.
