I've seen a bunch of posts of the last maybe week or so with instead of what I assume should be emojis. Whats up with that?

This is why I don't trust "white hat" people. They're all aligned with spies and political police against regular citizens. There is an end to end encrypted system, if you create "lawful access", you also create a backdoor and it's disingenuous to suggest otherwise.

Sigh.

As the FT reports: “Apple has launched a new legal challenge against the UK’s latest attempt to create a ‘backdoor’ to access encrypted customer data…”

 👏 lawful 👏 access 👏 is 👏 not 👏 a 👏 backdoor 👏

if it comes to pass as the captains of industry (and mistakenly, also you) hope, you're either going into the rare earth mineral mines or you're going to be the guy pointing the gun at the the people going into the rare earth mineral mines.

I feel like we’re going to look back at that time in summer 2026 when we thought it was so surprising that models could find new mathematical results that we still wrote Twitter threads about it. I wonder what life will be like then.

deleted last post, re: shieldfont. because even if you extract the mapping there's still going to be significant cost to the attacker. it could be optimized but however you slice it, it's prohibitive to overcome but cheap to avoid. i think its more convincingly defensive thn offensive.

its impressive how many 0s have dropped off of the values in cryptoheists. this all stems from an ifdef guarded part of a C library, which was set to "0" but the actual check is if it is defined or not rather than the value set. It falls back to a software RNG, of which the creator writes this:

http://www.literatecode.com/yasmarang

Another point was the fact that it is possible to recover Yasmarang internal state after the first cycle and subsequently is possible to predict its output.http://www.literatecode.com/yasmarang

However, mind that Yasmarang is not meant to be a cryptographically strong PRNG alone. It is simple impossible for any pseudorandom number generator with such small internal state.

A mysterious hacker has stolen more than $70 million worth of Bitcoin from Coldcard hardware wallets: bitcoinmagazine.com/news/coldcar... The attackers exploited a vulnerability in the wallet's firmware that produced weak and easy to guess private keys: blog.coinkite.com/entropy-tech...

watching a weird big lib account on here get so mad trying to accuse people of racism that he accidentally slips into misogyny.

did you read the third tweet in my thread?

do you plan on interacting with any of the questions i'm asking here or do you just want to justify racist shit without putting your whole pussy into it?

in one of my previous jobs, we had a DC that was unmanned. it wasn't fancy or futuristic, someone just had to drive over to give scheduled access or fix things. ask yourself if self-storage units (with increased power and water draw requirements) would dramatically change your local economy or not.

We've gotta make the Monorail Simpsons episode required viewing for every city councilor in the country. Every single thing he says here is a lie. A Potemkin Village Imaginarium.

Obviously fake. But it does look great, both in the actual model and the website looking the part. Also there's a really contrived bit in an NYPost article where the creator is "Beau G" and "chose not to disclose his full last name to protect his day job" rather than an obvious "Bogey" pun, etc.

For me at least, the two things I don't want a giant robot centaur with horns to do are hold a chainsaw and stare menacingly at me through a door.

The history of cybersecurity to date: 1992-20XX - didn't do any foundational security, used a bunch of manufactured crisis to get security budget, spent it on Darktrace and got promoted to CISO 20XX - got hacked, paid ransom to cover it up, failed up

seeing pro-AI people in replies to a thread about how some tech founder is mad that an AI won't translate his post about genocide and they just "accidentally" say the quiet part loud and restate classic nazi defending lines of argument for holocaust denial. purely coincidence, im sure 👍

I'm with DHH on this one. We don't want a central authority dictating what it will and will not translate. That'd be like a library deciding what I may or may not read. Also, I agree with Oli. The OP is inflammatory and misleading. Deportation is not extermination. DHH is advocating for deportation.Oli

Also, deportation != extermination.

I've seen a couple of cases where this has happened (books, news articles) and each time seen it called a "prompt", but it's not is it? It's part of the LLMs response where it's describing the output, it's not the prompt itself? I guess maybe in an ELIZA way it's rephrasing the prompt back to you.

A Canadian lawmaker is facing backlash online after delivering a speech in New Brunswick's Legislative Assembly that seemingly included an AI prompt. "I'm Ron Burgundy?" some commenters reacted on Reddit.

Here's an alternative reading of the OpenAI "hack": At all times OpenAI, the SaaS cloud everyone puts private data into, is one (1) container escape away from catastrophic security failure. And somehow, this makes their product more marketable to the tech press.
